I couldn’t agree more with the sentiments of Ed Perkins in his Opinion column (May 18) regarding Christchurch MP Christopher Chope’s bill, which would effectively abolish the minimum wage.
There is obviously much dissatisfaction with Gordon Brown and the Labour government at present, and let’s face it, there is much to be dissatisfied about!
However, I am sure issues such as this reveal the true Tory agenda – that only the privileged few will benefit when David Cameron and his Eton chums take over.
I also note that the bill has only temporarily been withdrawn, and will appear again in June.
I fear that, with working people already suffering due to redundancies, short time working and all the rest of it, a Tory government will be like throwing an anvil to a drowning man.
