Fool and someone else’s money.......

Ed Perkins in his Opinion column (Daily Echo, May 22) infers that at times many people are less than honest when making claims or avoiding their liabilities.

This is no doubt true.

At least he does not condone MPs’ behaviour, unlike the correspondent last week who sought to excuse their conduct with a Biblical quotation: “Let he that is without sin cast the first stone”.

I have a quotation that is not in his Bible: “They are all rogues – but some are bigger rogues than others!”

If the press had not brought this scandal to the notice of the public, would we have heard about it? Would these MPs, who are now whingeing about a witchhunt have given up their gravy train?

No they would not.

Here is another adage: “Any fool can spend somebody else’s money”. I think our local councillors could also bear this in mind.
