A BOURNEMOUTH University survey listed (in their words) eight major problems with the Branksome Rec proposals.

As I see it only one has been addressed, which is which way round to put the ground.

There is still nowhere for parking. The speed ramps, zig-zag planters plus 20mph speed limit were introduced to stop the traffic using Recreation Road as a rat run.

There’s an alcohol-free zone which will have to be changed.

Drainage will have to be put in, which will probably use up a lot of the £1 million budget because every time it pours with rain the rec floods, and you will never stop this because the Bourne Stream flood plain runs right through the middle of it.

Poole Town FC says it will benefit the whole community. How?

Unless you’re one of their 150 supporters or the minority who play sport there is nothing for us. Even our little local teams or the children’s teams that use the rec every weekend will end up paying to use our own pavilion.

I think the clue is in the name – Poole Town Football Club, not Parkstone or Branksome.
