The coverage you have in the Echo (May 16) regarding Parliamentary expenses is excellent and just about meets public opinion.
Mrs Brooke’s comments are brave but justified, for leaders and legislators must have both impeccable ethical and moral standards as they are setting an example for the nation to follow.
We cannot have a situation whereby any member of either house of Parliament can bend the rules or worse still break the law and not be accountable, as this sets a legal precedent as an excuse for all and sundry to commit similar offences and could even lead to public unrest if suitable action is not promptly taken by the proper authorities.
