In the last week the British people have seen journalism at its best, both nationally and locally.
If ever proof was needed that the press should not be gagged, then this is it.
Let us all now call for an end to the army of civil servants with golden pensions and handshakes who are bleeding us all dry.
Let’s have an end to people in all public offices voting themselves rises, and claiming expenses that have nothing to do with their job.
Let them have a fixed salary and manage on it like the rest of us.
It may come as a surprise to them but many people manage on a quarter of the salaries paid to MPs and top civil servants.
If you take a job in public office you should never lose sight of the fact you are there to serve the public, not yourself.
Anybody caught exploiting or abusing public money should be prosecuted.
