When Teenagers Know Best...

According to a recent survey, parents are becoming more and more reliant on their teenage children to look for cheap late deals and family holiday destinations on the internet.

Internet-savvy kids are more adept at finding their way round internet sites, using search engines, and hunting down cheap holiday deals than their sometimes techno-phobic parents.

Figures show that one in four kids chose their family holidays on the internet last year, with the average results showing 14 year old boys more likely to find suitable holidays than their dads.

Many teenagers are more comfortable than their parents using social networking sites, blogs, forums and comparison sites to seek out information. They find out about daytime activities, swimming pools, local water parks, Wi-Fi connectivity and all the other things important to teenagers holidays. Most of the teenagers surveyed admitted they spent up to an hour and a half on the internet during their actual holiday. Most of this time is spent interacting with friends back home however some did use it to research their destination whilst there.

Just over 66% preferred to use the internet to gather holiday information as opposed to just 18% who used a guide book.

A quarter of those children surveyed admitted that internet use on holiday was the most important thing ahead of television, food and facilities.

Spokesperson for the Best Western group of hotels; Tim Wade stated, "We all know how teenagers love the internet, but we were still surprised by these survey results. It shows how important it is to offer internet for free as it is so key to every family's holiday."

Parents seem quite happy with their children searching for their cheap late deals and trusted them totally. Over two thirds admitting they were just relieved that their kids still wanted to come on holiday with them.
