Rise to Remain head for Weymouth Pavilion

Rise to Remain Rise to Remain

BATTEN down the hatches, hoist up your petticoats, strengthen your underpinnings and brace yourself, ladies, Weymouth is poised to welcome the UK’s fastest rising band of the metal world.

Since winning both Kerrang!’s best newcomers award and Metal Hammer’s best new band honour back in 2010, Rise to Remain have made a seriously large dent in the world of metal.

Fronted by Austin Dickinson, son of Iron Maiden’s Bruce, Rise to Remain are touring their debut album City of Vultures with two dates in the UK including Weymouth Pavilion on Tuesday, May 22.

Then they’re off for a jaunt round Europe before playing at the prestigious Download festival at Castle Donnington in June, and then heading to the States for a mahoosive 30-plus date tour.

As you can see from the picture on today’s page, they’re really looking forward to their trip to the seaside!

It’s a great chance to see a band on their way to the top, with able support coming from London hardcore nutters TRC, Dorchester’s Kill The Conversation and Pompey’s Eden in Vain.

Tickets at a mere £10 are available from the Pavilion box office on 01305 783225.

And that’s a bargain, if you ask me.

Now then, those of you of a more sedate nature will be looking forward to the return of Groanbox at the Dorchester Arts Centre next Saturday, May 26.

The American trio of Paul Clifford, Cory Seznec and Michael Ward-Bergeman make a great rock ‘n’ roll noise steeped in the traditions of the States.

Their Bluesnight show a couple of years back was a huge hit and this is likely to be more of the same.

Tickets at £12 from the box office on 01305 266926 or on the door at £13.

Until next time...
