I GAVE BRETT SOME HOME TRUTHS
IN FORM: Brett Pitman
IN FORM: Brett Pitman

KEVIN Bond has revealed that Brett Pitman's sparkling start to pre-season came after the talented forward heard a few "home truths".

The Jersey-born striker answered his manager's call to make a "big impression" on the first-team by scoring a fine goal in Tuesday night's friendly defeat against FA Cup holders Portsmouth.

Pitman's fine lob, which proved a mere consolation as Harry Redknapp's side ran out 4-1 victors, continued his fine form in front of goal since Cherries' pre-season campaign got under way.

Having netted with a neat finish against Hamworthy Recreation and a well-struck free-kick at Poole Town, Pitman now has three goals in as many games, boosting his bid to fill the void left by Sam Vokes's close-season departure to Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Boss Bond believes the forward can take heart from his efforts against a Pompey back four which included former England star Sol Campbell and fellow internationals Hermann Hreidarsson and Glen Johnson.

"I thought he should have learned a bit about himself on Monday night," Bond told the Daily Echo.

"When you're a threat to Sol Campbell, you can be a threat. I thought he did really well.

"We've had a couple of conversations, just to spell out a few home truths with him. What he needs to do is take it on board and if he takes it on board, he's got half a chance."

Pitman, whose performance at Dean Court also earned the praise of legendary ex-Cherries chief Redknapp, has a great chance to make a name for himself when the League Two campaign gets under way, with Bond's squad short of proven forwards.

"Last season I played out wide, which I don't mind, but my favourite position is up front and hopefully I've done enough to keep my place," said Pitman.

"I was pleased to score against Pompey but, more importantly, I was pleased with the team performance.

"Their whole 11 are top quality and it's good to test yourself against them and I think the lads enjoyed it.

"We got a little bit sloppy after half-time, which is disappointing, but on the whole I thought the lads did pretty well."

Pitman is likely to be Bond's first choice come August 9, with last season's top scorer Jo Kuffour recovering from a hernia operation and Lee Bradbury now being used as a right-back.

Well done Bondy, hopefully he will grow up a bit this season and think less of his wonderful self and play more as a talented player which will get him the respect he wants.

You are a decent man Bondy and i hope things improve for you but somehow i doubt it will ( Jimmy Quinn) Try giving a ` a few home truths` to your mate Jeff. Like why are a bunch of Liverpool blaggers after our cash . Good luck Kevin and keep up the good work which you are trying to do.

come on Mike not every post is about the new owners. Bondy keep up the good work, I have to admit I didn't rate you at first but you are winning me over as time passes, don't know how you did it but whatever you did it is working with Brett he is playing some good football and was a pleasure to watch Monday night keep up the good work all of you.

He's always struggled to make the jump to the senior team but was looking a different player on Monday.
I think you're spot on with him wanting respect and the only way he'll get it is with graft.

You've always had the ability, now's the time to prove it.

same old retoric, people must be fed up with you by now , please give it a rest we know your feelings which you are entitled to but we do not need them rammed down our throats all the time

No-one who runs like a chicken and dives like a deco will score 20 goals in a season...

Sorry John , i am just fed up with people thinking these blaggers are telling us the real facts and i really feel sorry for Bondy . Two left overs from Chester training with him, a Director of Football who knows nothing and nobody and allegedly lie after lie from Mostyn , Savi and co . Maybe the Football League will see through the smokescreen but i will not be taking in like sadly some are.

I always worry when I hear Bond has been "telling home truths", it's something he did badly last season.

I hope one of the things he claims to have learned is how to do it appropriately, which may be he appears to have done here.

I hope the improvements continue, I might begin to warm to the idea Bond might be a better manager than he has shown himself to be in the past

Brett Pitmans sparkling start !!??!!

There is nothing sparkling about scoring against the likes of Poole Town and Hamworthy United. No disrespect intended toward these local sides. However, being a professional striker with League side this is what you should be doing and what is normally expected!!

The only thing that is going to be anywhere near a sparkling bright spot for this coming season will be the yellow ball used for the winter matches!!. When one considers the weakness and brittleness of the current playing staff.

Regards

Another name mgale new poster ? Your personal remarks will not stop the truth , so grow up. Am i bothered , do i sound bothered. People like GMcMahon and Kevvo etc have good opinions and we debate them and sometimes we fall out but we all care about the future of AFBC.

I also support Kevin Bond and what he is trying to do and the rumours of Jimmy Quinn in the background disturb me as does the lack of proof of funds from these Liverpool blaggers who appear to want to use the fans money ( season tickets - boxes - vp`s etc ) to pay Jeff off and pay themselves .

the only sparkle for me would be for you to stop placing your doom and gloom postings. A lot of us who were actually at dean Court to watch the team play Pompey who showed us the respect of playing almost a full team of internationals. A team still short of being our full team owing to injuries played very well against them, ok we were outclassed at times but never outplayed. So if you don't want to watch us anymore please stop putting in your derogatory comments

We have to be fair to the new guys who seem to have taken over(provided the league let us play league football). For people to say they are going to run off with cash is a bit strong.
Ok if Bondy does not like what Sutton says he will walk out and then we will know. As much as the jury is out with Bond in some people's eyes, it is not fair for others to meddle with his job.Have these guys got the cash?. We will soon see when the League hits us very hard in the pocket and docks points. On this bad news, then is the time to guess what these people are like, if they run off , then Yes you might be correct-but give them a chance in the meantime. It appears it is the same old tossers who get on here every day slagging everything about our club. For goodness sake-fact not fiction-or just shut up and lets get going again albeit in Division 2

I've not heard a word and as I posted on another thread last night, you would have thought that JM would have been keen to reassure fans that he'd managed to submit the required paperwork. But no press conference, press release or statement on AFCB's website? Does this seem a little strange?

One other thought and it's something that a few people have already asked. What WAS the attendance on Monday night? I've looked at the Echo report, Vital football for both AFCB and Portsmouth and the AFCB website yet none of them state what the attendance was? Why? The proposed new owners aren't thinking of 'losing' that money somewhere are they, that's the only reason I can think of why it hasn't been published other wise you'd know roughly what the gate receipts were (ie. 3,000 @ £10 = £30,000)

Does anyone know?

No need to go down that road is there, it's bad enough with ASE so we don't need anyone else doing it, I may not always agree with Mike but he deserves more respect if you can't do it then why post this kind of stuff it's no joke is it!!

Steady Elvis you might upset someone ! Don`t ask stupid questions ! Baker and co and watching and answering on here. Ask a honest question and you get called negative, try to explain whats going on and you are a nurd. Strange but Kevvo and GMcMahon and myself plus maybe John Coombes are often right but we get slated by for saying it as it is. Never mind time will tell and up to now sadly everything as come true.

Have to say mike we have had so many rumours over the weeks I will only go by what happens these days, I have found that all you get is personal attacks on here if you dare suggest anything, I think there is more going on and I still am cautious about these guys, all I want to hear is how it went with the League and if I am reassured by that then I will feel better, I also say they did do well with JD sports but as we have not seen what the deal is yet I don't know how to take it yet. I will therefore respect your views on this and not necessarily agree so it's a period of fence sitting on this one for a bit of peace you take the flak this week please.

My rumours are always 99% correct and can be checked , just ask the new PROPOSED owners . Its alleged that Paul Baker is being refused to change his £200k loan notes into a small share issue at CCFC by Vaughan the owner. This leaves him on a sticky wicket with the F/League so he`s maybe trying to take players in exchange. Watch this space ! Quinn was mentioned by a Savi contact.

Pitman played most of his games on the wing last season.
Bond played him out of position.
He will be a much better player up front.

Mike, I'm not an AFCB fan but have followed your current situation closely as previously explained. I must admit as an outsider that I'd have thought MOST, if not ALL, AFCB supporters would have wanted hard facts and figures from the PROPOSED new owners given the number of times you've been let down in the past. Here's what I've noticed over the last few days:

1) New Board/Owners announced; investing a 7 figure sum - but no actual financial figures quoted! £75,000.00 is a 7 figure sum.....

2) New Shirt deal announced; 'best deal in AFCB's history both brand and financially' - yet no hard figures. I even thought it was a 'coup' getting JD Sports as shirt sponsors but then noticed it was Carbrini Sportswear and not actually JD Sports name on the shirts!

3) Home friendly against Pompey and no attendance figure announced; therefore no way of knowing the gate reciepts for the game and how much money AFCB made.

4) Whilst I haven't delved into the background of Paul Baker's failed attempt to take control of CCFC I have looked into Savi's Sport-6 company. Here is a 'businessman' who changes his companys' name every 2 years or so. One company has accounts overdue from 2007 whilst his previous company was dissolved without ever filing any returns. This is all freely available on the Companies House website. And Sport-6's website hasn't been updated since last October.

Surely it is realistic to expect AFCB supporters to be less than enthusiastic about the new owners purely on words alone! As Savi said in a press conference 'I'm all about delivery and if you don't deliver you get found out very quickly'. (AS - it is now just over 2 weeks to the start of the season, you better deliver pretty quickly!) Purely for peace of mind I think it's time that the 'proposed' new owners gave the AFCB fans some hard facts, especially financially. I can't see the FL accepting their proposal to exit admin without hard financial figures so why can't they make them public, if only for reassurance!

Personally, anyone who thinks PB & AS's take over is all hunky dory and done and dusted is either looking at this through rose tinted glasses or is just choosing to forget what has happened with previous consortiums. However, everyone is entitled to their opininon and my thoughts and worries for your club may well turn out to be unfounded! I certainly hope so for AFCB's sake.

The trouble with this is (and I am guilty as well) We are so fed up with the lies that have been coming from Mostyn over the last couple of Years that we are cynical about anything or anyone who is connected with him . I dont know what Mostyns intentions where and Yes we do have to be very cautious of any statement made that is not backed up with evidence. The problem is that the Board and any other potential Buyers are looking at this from a greed point of view they must do its business and we are looking at it from a survival point of view because its in our Hearts. But lets not make any bones about this . If Mostyn, Savermutto , Baker, Pither or indeed anybody else fail in getting us out of this , The reprocussions will be for them They will say oh well never mind and move on to the next project and the reprocussions for us will be no Club. I am all for giving people chances as we did with Jeff and we got our fingers burnt and we have little choice but to do the same with this lot but as G McMahon Mike and eventually John Coombes have been saying lets belive it whjen it is done and be very cautious about the credibility of anything even in name only as this is that is connected with Mostyn in terms of delivery.. I hope we sort this I hope the League will not be to hard on us but I do agree that its is rather worrying that even at this so called late stage there is still not much real evidence of the claims of this prospective new board

Well said Kevvo , excellently written, perhaps some local journalists could learn from you and do a follow up story. We just want the true facts and not fairy stories. What if the F/League ask for a large financial bond, say £750,000 off Sport - 6 what then ? do they have this amount of money ? i doubt it, their company house records make me laugh or should i say cry. Baker even states on Deva Chat (ccfc message board) that he and his family will watch as many Chester games as they can. Ur - thought you owned another club Paul ?

G McMahon - Do you have a problem with non AFCB fans talking about your club? This is the second time you've pull me up about commenting on Bournemouth.

Please can you tell me what is wrong with my post? You say I should quote facts as that's what I propose the new owners do? How can I quote what I don't know? Only AS and PB know what the 7 figure sum invested is, only they know the true value of the kit deal and only they know the gate reciepts for the Pompey game!

As for whether Sport-6 now have money 8 months after the failed CCFC takeover - again only they know that as Sport-6 haven't filed their accounts with Companies House so no-one else can know can they.

All my post was trying to do was highlight the fact that certain AFCB fans seem happy about the new owners and the 'new bright future' yet the PROPOSED owners still haven't made any financial committment to the club public with HARD FACTS and FIGURES. I sincerely hope they do come through for you as I would hate to see Bournemouth disappear but concerns will always remain whilst they is doubt about what is actually going on!

P.S. Any news on the additional paperwork being sent to the FL yesterday?

Ask a honest question and you get called negative, try to explain whats going on and you are a nurd. Strange but Kevvo and GMcMahon and myself plus maybe John Coombes are often right but we get slated by for saying it as it is. Never mind time will tell and up to now sadly everything as come true.
Here's what I've noticed over the last few days: 1) New Board/Owners announced; investing a 7 figure sum - but no actual financial figures quoted!
Right here we go, attendance 7042, the shirt has the brand name of JD sports new label which they are promoting like mad, so come on let's not go down that road you want facts but are not quoting them yourself, we are for the most part being cautious about these new owners I have posted on here the quote from the Chester Chairman about sports6 take over bid and although it basically said they had no money at the time we cannot assume that things are the same 8 months later. I am prepared to wait until we hear from the league before I start knocking them I have said be careful as have the more enlightened fans who see this for what it is and not for what they want, so please if you are going to comment on our club do so with all the facts which is what you are asking for from the new owners.

So in one foul swoop you have disregarded the facts I gave you about attendance shirt deal etc, and where did I say anything about having a problem with you being a Rovers fan, as I said if you wan to comment then do so with facts what's wrong with that? we have enough of the rumours already without more being added and when I do give you the facts you totally brush over them as if they were never there, so come on you have no facts in your statement so it's not fair to be calling for them from others when not posting them yourself, good luck with Rovers this season, any idea how they are doing?

About time. This season will make or break Pitman and he needs to grow up and grab the chance - the true test of a professional sportsman.

Let's hope he can do it.
