Howe: This is the only club I would have left for

CHERRIES RETURN: Eddie Howe CHERRIES RETURN: Eddie Howe

EDDIE Howe insisted Cherries was the only club he would leave Burnley for.

The 34-year-old is set to finalise terms on a three-and-a-half year deal at Goldsands Stadium - less than two years after leaving Dorset for Turf Moor.

Howe, who led Cherries to promotion in his first spell as manager, cited family circumstances as the main reason for returning to his boyhood club.

He said: "It’s been a really tough week. I can’t speak highly enough of Burnley Football Club, the people who work for the club, the players and the supporters, who have all been brilliant to us since we walked through the door, and I would like to thank them for that.

“To leave is incredibly difficult, but I feel it’s a decision I have to make for my family and for personal reasons, which I can’t go into detail on.

“There is only one club I would contemplate leaving Burnley for and that is Bournemouth and that is the situation we found ourselves in.”

Howe and assistant Jason Tindall are expected to be unveiled before Cherries' clash against Leyton Orient at Goldsands Stadium tomorrow.

I like the way Echo has been trying to garner so much glory from this "oh its us that reported this and did that and found out this" yadda yadda. Guess what Echo lol that's called reporting, that's what you are EXPECTED to do, you have done nothing special! To be honest, all this could have been found out online through faster reporters anyway. Really makes me laugh when people want glory for doing what they are paid to do

I hope (it is a hope) that EM will now realise how important it is to take notice of those who pay with hard earned money to come and watch a game of football (the supporters). Whatever it might have cost in compensation that money will soon come in because people like me will now do our best to attend every game and get behind the team the club and dare I say even EM if shows that he has learned an important lesson in all of this. When I go past an empty restaurant my immediate reaction is to ask why? The way things were going it would not have been very long before Dean Court was empty on match days.

At the very least a play-off place should be achievable perhaps even better than that, however lets not loose sight of the fact Eddie and Jason have a massive job on their hands to overcome the malaise present at DEAN COURT. To assist them in their task get the 12th man on the terraces and make the job easier while enjoying exciting football on the pitch.

If you are in employment, when someone comes for you and you would tell the world first would you? Yes in an ideal world people could be open about what their intentions are but imagine how that would sit in at a negotiating table. Did you really expect him to tell us at the time when he was negotiating a lucrative contract?

The only reason Eddie is back is because of a Family tradegy and the home sickness of his wife and family, who returned home weeks ago and he's a man who puts his Family first. He had turned down two(three) very well paid jobs to stay here, when he learnt of the Boards plan to sell off the team that he had worked so hard to build and that false promises had been made to him. Another offer came in and he was off - ask yourself, would you have stayed in these circumstances ? - We are very lucky to have him back. Be happy, most supporters are.

You sound like Lee Bradbury talking about mid table! 11 points is a big gap but we are only in October. Football can change very quickly as the events of the last week show. Momentum and confidence is everything. If we can get on a run of wins and we can get the feel good factor back at Dean Court then anything is possible!

You need a strong midfield to get anywhere and we are a couple of players light in that area and may have to wait until January to bring them in. They only know a handful of the Squad and have to build a team and weed out at least a dozen players from our mismatched , over sized squad before they can start. This will take time to do. We shouldn't put too much of a load of expectations on their shoulders. Their task is hard enough without that. We can expect to see good exciting football return to Dean Court and possibly a strong end to the Season. Be content with that

The daft thing is it is the people who moan that start the ball rolling to get change.

Great to have Eddie back, no matter what ever mitigating circumsyances are involved.

Where were we going under both Bradbury and Groves? Downhill rapidly and neither of those men did the decent thing and are thus still being paid by the club (presumably).

Howe created a great team (by 3rd tier standards) with virtually no funds. So, hopefully, he can create another. At least this time he has the luxury of offloading some of the existing players which should create funds & reduce the wage bill.

Once he ha a balanced team in place, and hopefully a group of players he can keep happy in the process, surely we can start to move up this table.

Thankfully, al long last, normal service is set to resume ...

I started coming at the beginning the 2009 / 10 season, almost accidentally. My 11 year old son wanted to see a game. We got hooked that year. On the story of the great escape, on the style of football that we saw, and because we supported a team who reflected Eddie Howe's standards of decency as a professional sportsman and a human being. And when he left we understood and we wished him well. We supported Bradders and Groves, both decent men in their own right, but despite the money and the players, that spirit has never quite survived Eddie's departure. I texted my son this afternoon. It just said He's coming home. This isn't supposed to happen in professional sport, but it's happened to us. We may get promoted this year, next year, we may not, but what matters is that it feels we have our club back.
Now lets fill that ground tomorrow. We have a chance to make it special again.

It's great to have these guys back ,wether they are actually going to improve things or not is irrelevant . Its all about boosting the morale of the team and the supporters and that's football in a nutshell . No one would actually mind if Eddie Howe doesn't perform this season because he is the choice of the crowd so you have to give Mitchell the credit , he will have had to eat some humble pie to make this appointment and he has done so , Max Demin I'm not so sure that he is a voice in this but it is certainly his money ,probably too rich to concern himself about a few million quid which will reduce his tax liability ,he may as well have the money in AFCB rather than the tax mans grubby paws and win or lose ,he's on a winner . Just lucky for the fans and the team that sticky Eddie found the rusky before anyone else did . Harry rednap can talk EH's language , whereas groves would struggle putting two words together . Why Mitchell still wants this pair around is obvious but how sweet it would be if EH told them to do one,Groves and Brookes have no pride ,hanging about like a bad smell ,waiting for someone to throw them a few scraps of food -well sorry boys you had your go ,bye

Welcome back home Eddie! It's a big job you've taken on. The whole team needs motivating and the fans want to see some exciting football back at Dean Court. If anyone can do it, you can, so good luck. Hold on the tight and enjoy the ride!

Not this year! It will take time to sort out the mismatched squad of over paid over rated players. A decent Cup run would be nice though. A decent mid table finish with some entertaining football on the way is as much as we can expect. Miracles take time!.
You sound like Lee Bradbury talking about mid table! 11 points is a big gap but we are only in October. Football can change very quickly as the events of the last week show. Momentum and confidence is everything. If we can get on a run of wins and we can get the feel good factor back at Dean Court then anything is possible!
I remember Liverpool winning the league once when they were 10 points adrift at Christmas, this is possible
Where were that lot up the road about this time of the season and where did they finish....promoted to the Championship, they also had a under achieving squad. At last we have someone in charge who, with the help of the 12th man turning up and making Dean Court a fortress again, what is going to stop us?

Yeah, right! You'd have turned down the owner of Real Madrid had he offered you that job? You footballers make me laugh with your short-term cliches and sound-bites.

I USED to think like you, that Demin had just put some money in, but was quite happy to just sit back. Not any more, Demin IS the voice now and that's what has turned me around as much as Howe coming home. I certainly hope he can now rid us of Mitchell, but that's between them it's the football that at long last I can look forward to and enjoy win or lose because Eddie and Jason are home!!!

Demin has no history in football and he's Mitchell's mate ,he isn't going to be buying them out . As it happens as a team of people they haven't done anything wrong , they may have stumbled around blindly at times ,spent money unnessessarily and made some poor management choices but have still emerged as the best investors in this club ever . Eddie Howe will now trim the excess and make it workable ,he knows football unlike the last pair and he's popular with players and supporters alike and produces good football - its a win win . There is no reason not to support the new regime and good luck to them

Can't wait to see the difference this has made to the atmosphere today, this is the start of a new chapter under a manager we can all get behind, amazes me that we still have a few moaners even now!! EH & JT have their work cut out though, I don't think it is fair to exepct them to get us to the play offs straight away, we need to give them time to sort this mess out, but given what they already have done we can expect to be entertanied again, oh how I miss those days, and they are back!! So we all need to stop the in-fighting now, get behind the manager and the team and give Max and Mund a hughe cheer of thansk for pulling off the impossible!!

I have been reading "Tweets" from the players, both from Burnley and the Cherries this morning. The Burnley player clearly know of Eddies "problems" to a man they applaud his decision to put Family before career and praise him The Cherries players, are like the supporters, "over the moon" that he's back - a couple of comments in particular "now you will be given a chance! by Eddie". That's interesting in that it implies cliques in the Squad, with some players isolated. Some thing that Eddie wont allow. It's great news and hope to see a sell out for their first game in charge - a real test against the unbeaten League Leaders , Tranmere. What a "Fairy Tale" start that would be, if we beat them.

Welcome back Eddie (& Jason) - couldnt believe this would happen until deal was complete.

The fans now have a manager they belive in, as a Bournemouth man, who can also bring success & play decent football in the process.

I am sure players will welcome the positive change and Eddie will get them to respond.

After months of negativity the 'Feel Good' factor is palpable, across the whole town (and even the Echo!).

Reaching the play-offs this season is a big ask, as first Eddie has to get to know his new players; form his own team & instil his playing style. If we make it, other teams will be scared of us, if not at least we can expect better football meantime & a challenge next season.

These are my wishes as a fan - at the same time I hope a happy home life is Eddie's reward.

His Masters Voice / La Voix de Son Maître / Die Stimme seines Herrn / La voce del padrone / La voz de su amo :-
My master’s move back to Bournemouth is for ‘family’ and quality of life reasons – taking a lesson from Harry’s experience; not moving the family home, accepting largish commuting distances (Tottenham. West Ham), and refusing appointments ‘up north’, eg Newcastle, etc…… and still able to develop a career to the highest level (based on ‘southern’ clubs).
Not many ‘southerners’ break into the market to manage northern clubs (Pardew: Wimbledon Surrey, and others?), but from north to south is a torrent.
