Cherries: Mitchell aims to bring Redknapp 'closer'

ADVISORY ROLE: Harry Redknapp ADVISORY ROLE: Harry Redknapp

CHAIRMAN Eddie Mitchell has said he may try to persuade Harry Redknapp to take a more hands-on role at Goldsands Stadium.

Redknapp returned to the club a fortnight ago in an unpaid advisory capacity and has been casting an eye over matches from the directors’ box.

However, Cherries ’ poor start to the season has prompted Mitchell to weigh up asking Redknapp to become more involved with boss Paul Groves.

Mitchell told the Daily Echo: “I have said in the past we have got on our doorstep one of the best managers in the country. I have spoken to Paul about bringing Harry closer and need to discuss it with Harry.

“It would be one of many steps we would need to take to change and improve. We have got to re-examine everything. We are all trying to gain knowledge from Harry and, hopefully, we will.

“It would be great to be able to have that knowledge around the club and I would like to be able to bring it closer and that is what I am going to try to do.”

Speaking to the Echo after news of his advisory role broke earlier this month, Redknapp insisted he wasn’t interested in managing Cherries for a second time.

Does he honestly think Harry would want his name linked with the trash served up under Mitchell Groves and Brooks. Deluded fool.

Certainly not Harry Rednapp.

Harry, by now, will have a very good idea of what's going on at the Club and is far too shrewd to get further involved. He's not going to risk damaging his reputation by associating himself with failure,Though he may be prepared to tell Mitchell the truth and that wont be very well recieved.

More likely Harry will not want anything to do with AFCB in its present form.

Agree." ITS A SMOKE SCREEN"

'We have got to re examine everything..' yes exactly. Please re examine how you have taken a club on the threshold of promotion with a great team and manager to the current chaotic, and financially perilous situation - all because you want everything done YOUR WAY

Well, you are doing things YOUR WAY Mr Mitchell and look where we are now!

Harry will have absolutely nothing to do with us. Why would he if the fans no longer wish to put up with it - why would a prooven manager with a great CV even consider it - get a grip Mitchell AFCB were an attractive proposition until you and boy wonder son of yours have ripped the heart out of it! Bottoms up Mitchell clan - you disgust me!

A 'cunning plan' -bring in yet more backroom staff and it will make the attendance look decidedly better. HR will add one more to next Saturday's total -I like your style Mr Chairman!

I can't imagine Harry would want a larger role at Dean Court when he still covets a managers job in the Premier League, but having said that I see no reason in offering him the managers job providing Maxim is prepared to bank roll his wage demands. If not Redknapp, who? Is Mitchell really going to bring in a manager with a mind of his own when he's publicly admitted he wouldn't want someone like Paulo DiCanio here? I think not somehow, which means another promotion from within. Rofe & Fletcher perhaps? (No thanks!)
One thing is certain, the club need a change of direction on the pitch and PDQ. Groves & Brooks are inept in every department and everyone from the chairman to the players and the supporters knows it. The sooner they are gone the sooner this season can start again.

Strong rumours that Harry will take over from Paul Jewell at Ipswich.

"A beleagured Jewell seemed resigned to his fate and said after the match: "If Harry Redknapp's going to become manager of Ipswich, that'll happen. What am I going to do about it?"

Best joke this year. Mitchell is unable to afford Harry's salary, he would be used as an excuse when the club folds.

Wouldn't it be wonderful if Harry Rednapp really did take charge of the team, but in reality this is not going to happen, Mitchell knows it. Also, if Mitchell has got so much confidence in Groves & Brooks, why does he need to grovel to Harry Rednapp. The clubs becoming a joke and our Chairman, who has already got a tarnished reputation, is making himself look even more rediculous!

Great Photo of St Harry.
Good job it was a microphone being shoved in his face rather than a breathalyser. Looks like the interviewer has just told him Saturday's result.
If he is going to earn his "tea and biscuits" as an advisor there really is now only one worthwhile bit of advice to give - for the sake of the club, go now!

What why? We don't need his arrogant attitude disrupting our well equipped camp. We have a manager in Paul Groves so is Mitchell trying to replace him slowly...? I don't understand the need for this pensioner to be our 'advisor'. He is more like our 'advertiser'. Come on guys see the light at the end of the tunnel and UTCIAD!

Harry's no fool and wouldn't possibly want to work with Mitchell, especially with little Tom as Director of Football.

The only role I can see Harry relishing would be as a minority shareholder/Director of Football/Manager but that would be after Mitchell and his clan have packed their bags and been run out of town by Max Demin.

1. Why tell the 'media' that you might talk to someone? - before you talk to them.............
2. Assuming you do talk to them (persuade ?), do you then tell us all what was said? -and that you may talk to them again.............
....and we are the mugs for taking this seriously!
