EDDIE Howe insists he is fully focused on Cherries’ trip to Huddersfield tomorrow and admits the Galpharm Stadium will provide his men with a stern test.
The Cherries boss has hit the headlines this week after being ranked alongside the likes of Gianfranco Zola at the top of the betting lists for the manager’s job at Southampton.
Alan Pardew was sacked by Cherries’ League One rivals on Monday and the Hampshire outfit are now on the look-out for a replacement, with Howe appearing among the bookmakers’ frontrunners.
Howe and assistant Jason Tindall, who are under contract to Cherries at least until 2013, have built a big reputation since taking charge at Dean Court 20 months ago, and have been linked with other vacancies in the past.
But, previewing Cherries’ upcoming visit to one of the third tier’s most fancied sides, Howe stressed his attentions remained solely on preparing his men for their next clash.
He said: “Huddersfield away tomorrow is my only focus.
“It’s a tough place to go and a difficult place to get a positive result, so Jason and I and the team’s focus is on that game, and we are preparing normally for that game.
“It’s another really good test for us and another good gauge to see how far we’ve come and how competitive we’re going to be.
“We’re excited about the prospect of going there – it’s always a good place to play. It’s a great stadium so it’s all set up to be another good game.
“They play a very attacking style so it should be a great game for the neutral.
“I just hope there are not as many goals as there were last week!”

Lets hope Howe can put some strikers on the field. He may be up and coming and a great manager no doubt. But to sign Fletcher at 38 and Lovell who is always injured shows a lack of experience. No room for sentiment in football Eddie.

hahaha! you people make me laugh! dont comment on injury's if you don't have a clue on what has caused the injury! players play through pain barriers to play and some have been played through the pain through their own will!! and that's what causes the injuries so dont you comment unless you are comment on your own fitness or injuries!

No-one in their right mind would go to a club run by management that is in such turmoil. Eddie is building a great reputation at a club where supporters/managemen
t have shown great loyalty to managers that can deliver even reasonably well.
A MOVE TO SAINTS WOULD DESTROY EDDIE.
This "South Coast Club" management have been SO disloyal and disrespectful not only to AP (the man who nearly got them promoted last year after a 10 pt deduction, took them to Wembley and has built probably the strongest side in the league for this year) but also so many other Saints 'legends'. LeTissier has been scornful of management.
Can anyone really believe they would give the next manager more than a handful of games? Even then one defeat and you're out.
I don't beleive for a moment that Eddie is interested. As for the bookies odds - build a story and sell punters on the idea even though there isn't the slightest chance"
No doubt Saints fans will have the likes of Maradona on their list but I say be realistic; Dowie sounds like the man for the job to me - or Harry Redknapp !
