EDDIE Mitchell has revealed the latest targets on Cherries’ contract extension hit list – the club’s highly rated management duo.
The Dean Court chairman has seen star players Shwan Jalal, Ryan Garry, Liam Feeney and Marvin Bartley all commit their futures to the club in recent weeks.
And after expressing his delight at those captures, he has set his sights on extending the deals of Eddie Howe and Jason Tindall this summer.
Prior to the season, the young pair penned three-year contracts at the club, which Mitchell would like to top up to the same length once the campaign finishes.
Following Cherries’ exploits in League Two this term, Howe’s stock has risen remarkably and he is regarded as one of the brightest managerial prospects in the country.
Peterborough United attempted to lure him to the Championship in November, but he remained loyal to Cherries, and Mitchell hopes to keep hold of Howe and his number two for some time to come.
He told the Echo: “I’m a big fan of Eddie and Jason. If I could tie them down for another year in the summer, I’d jump at the opportunity.
“The conduct of the players and the way they (Howe and Tindall) conduct themselves, and everything about Eddie and Jason, is very professional. I wouldn’t want to change them in the near future, that’s for sure.
“I think they are determined to make it work. They are not sloppy in any way and they give 100 per cent.
“They do a lot of extra work that they don’t have to do to keep on top of the game – and that’s what it’s all about.”
Of Howe, the chairman said: “I’ve never worked with a more confident, level-headed person.
“He fits (the profile) of many people I have worked with in my company who are all out there to achieve.”
Tottenham Hotspur boss Harry Redknapp, who cut his managerial teeth with Cherries, last month urged Howe to stay in Dorset and learn his trade.
And Mitchell said: “I think they will outgrow the club eventually if they carry on working with the dedication they are, but hopefully that is some way down the line.
“It (topping up the contracts to three years) would give them time to do what they want to do at the club with the players.”
Meanwhile, Mitchell described the club’s supporters as “great” and “fantastic” after Cherries’ early season ticket offer yielded around £14,000 in the two days before the deal’s deadline on Tuesday.
The initiative raised more than £300,000 for the Dean Court coffers.
“It has really gone a long way to securing the club’s immediate future,” he added.

After expecting us to drop a place or two those results coupled with Chesterfield`s GD taking a hammering and Bury losing their leading scorer through suspension ha s really helped our cause. It seems other sides find it difficult to take advantage as well.
We now find ourselves in a similar six-pointer situation then when we played Rotherham,a win kept us firmly in second, when it looked likely that Rotherham may overhaul us.Hopefully the same Cherries side will turn up on Monday as the same sides that turned up for the recent`crunch` games v.Rotherham and Notts. If it does then three points and a giant step towards our target is in reach.

However he will be a big loss in some tough games coming up. Think Rochdale are clear from us now, a rejuvenated Clownty will take an automatic spot so leaves 3rd place up for grabs. Bury and Chesterfield have just ended great runs and are dropping points while Rotherham struggle for consistency. thus we are in a great position. For club funds a play off win at Wembley is what we really need though! Whatever happens Eddie and team have done us proud.
