Cherries: Boss Howe calls on Tindall

CHERRIES boss Eddie Howe is set to call his assistant Jason Tindall out of retirement yet again as a "last resort" to bolster his squad.

Tindall has been included on the club's official player list with a squad number of 31 as Howe takes out an insurance policy against any possible further injury setbacks.

With key player Shaun Cooper ruled out due to a long-term injury and loan defenders Joel Ward and Rhoys Wiggins having long left Dean Court, Tindall is readying himself for action, if required, once the League Two campaign gets under way next month.

Manager Howe is still unable to recruit new players because of the club's ongoing transfer embargo and it appears increasingly unlikely that the embargo will be relaxed ahead of the season curtain-raiser at Bury on August 8.

The situation could force veteran Tindall, who came out of retirement in the victory over Dagenham and Redbridge last season, to dust off his boots.

"I spoke to Jason a couple of days ago and said he'd have to up his training and I'm almost treating him as a full-time player because we're so thin on the ground, especially with defenders," admitted Howe.

"Rhoys Wiggins and Joel Ward have gone and it's left us with four defenders on the books, so Jason is going to have to be prepared.

"It's not ideal and it's the last thing I wanted to do, but you have to prepare for every eventuality. A couple of injuries and there will be no one else and he is the next in line.

"It's far from ideal but we've got to be prepared."

Howe, who joked that it might take two months - rather than just two weeks - to get Tindall ready for action, is grateful to the former Weymouth boss for reluctantly making himself available.

"He doesn't want to do it and I don't want him to do it, but needs must," said the Cherries boss.

"Fair play to him for doing it for me because he's putting his reputation on the line when he goes on the pitch and I can only thank him for that."

Jason Pearce and Ryan Garry established themselves as Howe's preferred central defensive pairing last term, but further options are limited.

Cooper is sidelined, Scott Guyett (shoulder) is yet to play in pre-season and Joe Partington is still learning the position.

We all know how difficult a task Eddie is faced with, mainly through the ongoing embargo enforced by our very good friends at Football league headquarters.
We know our punishment has been brought about by the misdeeds of previous administrations, but when are they going to give our new owners the chance to move forward????.
Have we not been punished enough by the loss of 27 points which has caused our demotion to league two and but for the superb efforts of Eddie and his team, we would now be in the Conferance league, if they would have us.
All these ongoing restrictions are not helping our club in attaining a sound financial base for recovery. Enough is enough so far as our punishment is concerned, and I think some of the quite rediculous sums of money being put into the Premier ship could be used to help the smaller clubs.

Eddie has obviously been told the situation. As I've said before, the best we can hope for is a partial lifting of the embargo for loanees.
Absolute best - mid table.
Yes we've got a good squad when all are fit but they aren't now and won't be all season.
Anyone who thinks we have a chance of play-offs in the current situation should come back through the looking glass into reality. If you don't believe me, just look at today's (and previous) articles from Eddie.

This is really scraping the barrel, even before the Season starts. Sea Poole's interesting post yesterday and the FL's response to his questions are a matter for thought, "there are a number of matters under discussion with the Club, and we have to apply the rules" just what the other matters are - none of us know, the rules clearly the Embargo is not going to be lifted, until all debts are paid. Does the Embargo save the Board embarrassment from having to admit that they don't have the funds to bring in new players? , this is probably the time when cash flow is greatest, with Season Ticket Sales and lucrative "friendlies", what is going to happen in the depth of Winter.Just what is the real state of the Club and why did they want it? Wouldn't it be nice to get some straight answers!! and not spin. I have never had any real expectations of success ,since, I learnt who was taking control of the Club. Another Season of struggle lies ahead, I an afraid.

There are Jonah’s in the club and unless they go the club will sink!!!!
Jonahs AKA = MOSTYN and SLY

What was their real motive for coming back?
The football league had issues with Mostyn and Sly before so no wonder they are treating AFCB with kid gloves!!

Most successful teams in the lower leagues tend to use the fewest number of players during a season.
Injuries and luck play such a big part.
Our first 13 or 14 players will give any team in this division a tough game if we can keep them on the park.
The squad numbers are mystifying with 3 or 4 players who are likely to be regulars given numbers outside the first eleven.
Is this at their request, or tactical to confuse both the home supporters and the opposition?

I agree about the successful teams using the fewest players. I also agree that our first 13 or 14 will give any team in this division a game. However i had a quick look on the PFA website last night at the unattached players. Some really big names, experienced names and some youngsters released by the top 6 who i'm sure wouldnt take much convincing to come here. I cant understand how if we are meeting all the deadlines the FL are asking, then why they wont at least loosen the embargo to allow us to bring players in, as long as they are not with other clubs already. This way we are not getting involved in the paying other clubs saga and it's just between us and the players/agents. If they dont loosen it then surely there must be some other agenda that we're not aware of. If so, if somebody lets us know we can either understand or in some cases help, just not keep making conspiracy theories. With regards the squad numbers, a lot of the players choose their own. Warren has been our No.1 Left back since he's been here, when has he worn number 3?

Following yet more correspondence with FL, I've requested information re The Football League Handbook -Rules and Rgulations as voted by 'Member Clubs' Chairmen.'The response has been to order a copy at £16. I'm tempted to purchase the book in order to see if there are any loopholes re the embargo. As far as not disclosing content of 'discussions with AFCB on several issues' I'm considering challenging that as I'm an 'interested party' and investor in the club -a season ticket holder' and believe as such I have a legal entitlement to information. If that's not forthcoming, I may apply under FOI Act -(Freedom of Information.) In no way am I a legal eagle, BUT I am a committed (perhaps should be committed!) follower of the Cherries.
I really think the Echo is missing a trick here. I have many friends nationwide and they can't believe there's still punishment for the Cherries.

I have been an advocate of this for years, and have always believed that Fletch could have been converted to a centre half when younger and still scored 6 or 7 goals a season.

As I said before we need to get behind the lads and support them as no one else is going to before the season starts!!
It appears to me the League are doing everything they can to kill off our club and we musn't let them.
I doubt Newcastle are enjoying it either so it's not just us small clubs, the league is a mess from top to bottom.

Just a thought.AFCB were already subject to an embargo when in January the HMRC insisted the FL tighten said embargo. Now in June club chairmen voted for this newer embargo as soon as "neccesary practical arrangements"could be made.I have not heard anything concerning this embargo having been made part of the FLs` rules. Why would the FL and chairmen need to vote on something if it was already on the books?Could it be AFCB are subject to an embargo which was not or is not yet part of the FL`s rules and regulations, and as such could in fact be illegal.Sure, the FL will have their own legal team, but the FL are well known for being seen to make things up as they go along.

Really wish the team well but unfortunately shows how the squad lacks depth. It has been mentioned before that the squad will only be 20 players. Sure this the financial constraints/ fixed monies allowed to be spent on players in League 2 but reserve players will need to be given their chances when even more injuries set in. UTCIAD

Several teams last year did very well without having much money. Bury, Rochdale and Dagenham all spring to mind as hardly rolling in it. So it can be done. Interstingly the bookies don't seem to be as pessimistic as a lot of our fans either. Odds to win the league range from 11/1 to 20/1. Given a fair wind with injuries I still think we can have a crack at the play-offs but I'm not getting carried away on a tide of optimism just yet!

have I missed the Echos report on last nights match at Dorchester or could they not be bothered, there is so much wrong concerning our club but the Echo does not appear to care enough to investigate had they done so in the past we may not have been in the situation we are now, when I contacted the league when we went in administration and asked why they did not do more to prevent teams from getting in this financial trouble and commented that 75% of league clubs were in some kind of trouble, the response I received was, THEY ARE PRIVATE COMPANIES AND WE ARE NOT ALLOWED TO INTEFERE WITH A PRIVATE COMPANY, which explains why they force clubs to sign a document not to appeal against pionts deductions which probably suggests they know they would not win an appeal

Maybe if all season ticket holders wrote to the FL and asked for this information the likely outcome would probably be: a)the system coming to a grinding halt or b) they would get the message that we the fans do care and what to know what is going on. (Just a thought)

It's tragic that with all the optimism here we are with good season ticket sales and no new players, no clearance of the revenue debt and an embargo in place. There's been no explanation, no substance, no detail of this "takeover". We don't even know if any new money has been put in. Roughly speaking season ticket sales could easily have raised 300k - 400k. Enough to pay wages and make a payment to the Revenue. So where are Murry's millions or contributions from Mitchell, Mostyn? Not forthcoming. It's no surprise the League aren't giving slack - they've seen Mostyn oversee administration and Mitchell may still be seen as owning Dorchester. We still owe money to other clubs presumably too? Did we play Dorchester? I thought we were supposed to be at Weymouth so presume that match was cancelled? Anyway, my concern is where this group is going to take this club in a month or two's time. And why did Baker sell to them? He doesn't seem to have dealt with ensuring they had the money to give the club stability - something the other group had albeit they wanted to check the club out properly to ensure they had the money to get it out of the trouble it is in! Bizarre goings on. We deserve much better.

I've spent a lot of time working with debtors, creditors in various capacities and to me the embargo seems contradictory to the Football League rules I've seen published. We currently don't have an outstanding debt to the HMRC. At the point that an arrangement is in place, that is a renegotiated debt. It only becomes outstanding should we fail to make a payment (must resist pessimistic comment). The HMRC have simply suspended rather than cancelled their follow-up, this is why the winding up order keeps getting adjourned and not dropped, this is to save both them and us money if we default. We currently have a restructured debt, an agreement with a creditor, not an outstanding debt. This ia at odds with both the letter and supposed spirit of the FL rules I've seen, however I'm not privy to their actual documentation. From what I've seen, which given our situation over the last 15 years is plenty, of their documentation, they appear through a lack of clarity with their wording be in breach of their own rules

To them business is business and AFCB are just a stepping stone to a large profitable development.
