Cherries: Another welcome test for Garry

PERFECTIONIST Ryan Garry plans to use tonight’s friendly to further enhance his skills in time for the new season.

Garry turned in a fine performance against Tottenham Hotspur on Friday and, with Cherries set to welcome top-flight Fulham to Dean Court this evening (7.45pm), he will again be given a stern examination.

But the former Arsenal man is hoping to make the most of the occasion once again.

He said: “It was a great experience to play against some world class players in probably every position on Friday.

“You can learn a lot. You can pit yourself against some of the top players in the English game, the likes of Darren Bent and Robbie Keane in the first half, then Jermain Defoe and Pavlyuchenko in the second.

“It’s a good test to see how you do against them.

“You can learn an awful lot because you’re going to be put in situations and positions that you’re not going to be during a League Two game.

“Everyone’s looking forward to the Fulham game, it will be a huge test and one that you can only learn from.”

Cherries go into the match without captain Danny Hollands, who has a knee problem.

The inspirational midfielder was forced to sit out the Spurs friendly and he will again watch from the sidelines before the extent of the injury is fully assessed.

A number of Cherries’ injured stars are unavailable for the match, but the sidelined players are making progress.

Midfielder Marvin Bartley is still around two weeks away from a return to action and Alan Connell, who took part in his first proper football session yesterday following surgery, is three weeks away from a return to full training.

Scott Guyett (shoulder) suffered an ankle injury on his road to recovery, while Josh McQuoid started jogging yesterday after sustaining ankle ligament damage in the opening pre-season friendly at Poole Town.

Brett Pitman (ankle) faces a fitness test ahead of tonight’s match, which Lee Bradbury is set to miss out due to a minor knee problem.

Cherries boss Eddie Howe is expected to give a number of trialists the opportunity to impress, with Alton Thelwell, Karl Broadhurst, Andre Costa and John Brown still with the Dean Court club.

Salisbury City full-back Luke Ruddick, who caught the eye when the Conference side defeated Cherries last week, could also feature after linking up with Howe’s men in training yesterday.

I wonder what sort of gate there will be for this game, there has been remarkably little talk about the game and it has sort of crept up on us.3/4000 perhaps? Yet they are a very good team, albeit low profile, with one of the best Managers in the game.

Fulham are a very good premier team with some terrific players.
They may not have the profile of some of the Spurs players,
but a crowd of less than 6000 to see a mid table premier side will send out signals as to what sort of attendances we can expect in league 2 against Accrington,Macclesfi
eld etc
Please turn out to support the Club.

Apart from the AFCB faithful how does anyone know we are playing Fulham tonight? The only place to my knowledge where it has been punted is on AFCB website. How do we think we will attract the new fans we desperately need?I said before that the ideal time to market this game would have been the spurs game but I was certainly not given a leaflet or saw a poster or anything?

The chap sitting next to me at the Spurs game had been to Poole and Hamworthy but didn't even know about the Fulham game.
Based on that, circa 4000.

If the team plays as well as it did against Spurs, it should do well. A win would be nothing short of a miracle, bearing in mind that Fulham is a Premier Team.

But, hey, what's another miracle to this team that perhaps shouldn't even be here.

If the game is as good as last Friday's it will be worth it.

Hey Eddie M.

Here's an idea for you. We currently have the naming rights for the stadium up for grabs?
Go over to the new Heart f.m station, sell them the rights at a decent rate and call it the Heart f.m stadium! then that would solve our ads for the games and the club at the same time, You could get thousands back in free advertising on a major radio staion to boot!

Match made in heaven.

P.s use the money you get from the naming rights to lift the embargo and then were on a real winner!!!!

And if that is too much spend for them in this climate sell them a stand! The heart fm. stand!!
And then sell the Echo one too while your at it!!

I would suggest a smaal crowd tonight, after all it's only a few days ago that we had the Spurs game and if most people are like me it's hard enough to rub two pennies together at the moment let alone spend money on two friendlies so close together so I would exepct a 4000 crowd, I will miss this one and head off to Ringwood on Thursday for some proper local hospitality.

I do not think that gates at pre season matches are usually any guideline to what gates will be achieved for league games, what will determine this is the results achieved in the opening league matches, and as we all know this will depend on the team that Eddie is able to put out on the field, we all know the present squad has the ability to do well but could do with some strengthening, this will not happen until the embargo is lifted, whilst I support the new board I do feel it would be good to see sign of a positive approach to these problems rather than a hopeful approach, and please gentlemen start to sell yourself to the public, let people know the games are on, not everyone has a computor and is able to go into the website, if we were as quick to get press coverage for matches as we are for a community project we would do well
