AFC Bournemouth: Burnley fan Marc Pugh would love to beat familiar foes Blackburn
BOYHOOD Burnley fan Marc Pugh admits he is determined to claim the bragging rights over his Blackburn-supporting pals tomorrow.
Cherries star Pugh has strong links with Burnley having started out as a trainee at Turf Moor before being released by the club seven years ago.
While Pugh grew up as a Burnley follower, he revealed that a number of his school mates and family friends were supporters of local rivals Blackburn Rovers.
The winger is set to lock horns with Rovers when the former Premier League outfit visit Dean Court for a Championship clash with Cherries (3pm).
And Pugh, who has netted two goals in eight league appearances this season, believes the match could spark some lively debate back home in Lancashire.
The 26-year-old told the Daily Echo: “I have got a lot of friends who are Blackburn fans so it would be nice to get one over on them, especially with me having been a Burnley fan when I was younger and growing up with the local rivalry.
“It would be great to get a win but we have just got to approach the game in the same manner. We want to win every game.”
Pugh added: “I had some friends back in school who were big Blackburn fans.
“We used to have a bit of banter about it, especially when Burnley played Blackburn.
“I am sure I will be having a bit of banter after the game.
“Hopefully, we can come out on top.”
