Cherries: Daniels frustrated by injury woes
7:00am Friday 15th February 2013 in Latest Sport
INJURY victim Charlie Daniels has revealed his frustration as he anxiously awaits a verdict on whether he can rejoin Cherries’ promotion bid.
The luckless left-back has been confined to the treatment room since sitting out the Dorset club’s home clash with Crewe on January 26.
Daniels, 25, had previously played through the pain barrier after sustaining a foot problem during the FA Cup clash against Wigan last month.
A leading performer this season, the defender managed to start Cherries’ next four games before being forced to take a break.
After a medical consultation on Tuesday, the Londoner was told to rest for a further two weeks to see if the damage would heal.
Should Daniels be forced to have an operation to cure the problem, it would almost certainly rule him out of the rest Cherries’ campaign.
The former Orient man is backing Cherries to prosper in his absence but he admits being restricted to a watching brief has been hard to take.
Daniels told the Daily Echo: “Frustrating is the main word. I am not the greatest watcher in the world anyway. But it is what it is and you just have to get on with it.
“The lads are doing really well at the minute. It is all going in the right direction.”
Daniels is still hoping to boost Cherries’ promotion bid by making a rapid return to action.
He said: “Hopefully, if it settles down in the next two weeks, I can avoid the operation.”
Recent recruit Matt Ritchie has proved a successful stand-in and Daniels added: “It is not his preferred position but he has done really well there.”
Meanwhile, Cherries boss Eddie Howe was last night considering whether to enter the loan market for a replacement left-back.

Wish CD a speedy recovery what a fantastic position for the cherries to be in I have been away for a fortnight but have been getting text updates from friends and family ,I assume I have missed a few of shimintos duff predictions but what a turn around in the clubs fortunes ,top league capacity crowds decent football ,we are having a similar season to them down the road when they got promoted poor start then auto promotion ,note to the board think we need a bigger stadium !

.
Now that we are top every game becomes a potential banana skin as every one will set out to beat you at all costs.
.
We need cover in defence urgently other wise we will come a cropper. We do not want that to happen at this stage of the season as i am sure you will agree.
.
Preston have fired their manager and we all know what often happens when this occurs i.e. they wil be rejuvenated and will want to prove themselves to any new potential manager and what better stage to do this other than against the league leaders.
.
Beware tomorrow folks as every game from now on takes on a different perpsective.

I'm not so sure that it's not all tongue in cheek and he get's a thrill from all the attention, or whether he does really go through life as a compulsive pessimist. Keep up the predictions and precautionary comments Smhinto and hopefully we'll keep on winning. You always make me smile where you manage to wind everyone up. I think every club should have a Smhinto!
