Why opposing managers want to whinge about our budget if beyond me. There have been a lot bigger clubs than B'mth in Lge1 in this and recent seasons and I've not heard them moan about that.

My advice to them is get your players fitter, train harder and get your tactics right! Because money or no money as pera couple of seasons ago if you have the right management team you can still be successful!

I don’t recall the same jealousy when Eddie Howe was achieving great things without money fewer players, embargos left right and centre. My advice to the jealous ones is just concentrate on your team and leave Eddie to his. They have to blame their inability on something don’t they!!!

Totally agree - you can spend as much as you like but the skill is turning an expensive squad into a successful one (Groves failed miserably)

Eddie has the luxury of financial support at the moment - he also worked miracles with a 17 point deduction and a squad of 14 or less fit players to save their football league status

Look at the bigger picture Mr Robinson and others before you moan about AFCB

People go on about the money we've spent, they ignore the fact we almost sold an entire team for around £4mill, so all we've done is re-invest THAT surely. OK, so Uncle Max is forking out for the wages, but they're griping to make excuses and as has been said, almost the same squad were frankly useless under Groves, so the credit is with Eddie/Jason. Why couldn't you have focussed on the fact that Shaun MacDonald is back in full training. Think positive for once.

I do get fed up with others moaning about how much we have spent on players. It’s hard to tell exact figures these days, because so many fees are not disclosed ,but at a rough calculation, we have spent roughly £1,000,000 LESS in transfer fees than we took in when selling the bulk of Eddie’s promotion team.

We may be spending a lot in wages of course but how many of these rivals can say there net spending on transfers over the last couple of years is minus £1,000,000! (perhaps Crewe? but nobody else comes to mind....although Swindon may soon be heading that way!)

Any Manager who had needed to sell players for £1,000,000 and spend nothing would be using it as an excuse if they slipped down the league. We have netted this amount and are 3rd. Like a previous poster said, this is down to the quality of our Manager and perhaps those moaning need to take a closer look at themselves.

Also a very good point that it’s a bit hypocritical for anybody associated with Franchise FC to moan about money dominating the game as money is the only reason they exist!

I see Afcbpete made same point as me whilst I was typing mine! When we went up in '87, the Echo ran an article showing how, despite some moaning that Harry had spent out on transfers, he'd actually netted more in selling players (at that stage). Somethings never change! P.S. I know it should be "their net spending" not "there"!

I think this article and the different threads it has generated raises several issues.

There is no doubt that jealousy over the availabity of resources and the superiority of managment aptitude are driving other teams to make comments like the ones we've been hearing.

Maybe the moaners are more upset by the fact that AFCB was able to bring back some of the personnel it foolishly off-loaded when the club was on a high.

Cherrie are playing excellent football which makes the probability of not getting automatic promotion or a play-off place very small.

Even a harder thing for the moaners to swallow.

It tickles me pink to see the hordes of people queuing up to berate you when you post on here :-) However, for the sake of putting an end to the raising of more handbags could I repeat my statement from yesterday in order to pour oil on the troubled waters of both sides of the debate, namely that..... I would wish Zubar straight in to the side in the present situation to partner Cook. However, Seaborne IS a centre-back and did well on Saturday. End of prob? Seemingly. With Partington having played in defence and done commendably well, there are options with/without Addison who is getting closer to fitness. Summary; get Zubar back as cover or in the side and ALL options are covered. Keep up the banter gentlemen it makes a week of nights go by so much more easily

Very true what you have said. However, we are plauying some of the top sided around us - Partington can fit in, but can he reproduce the the form of Cook or Elphic ?? Maybe not I would say. Neither is Addison fit enough to play.

at least a tool is useful!!! Why not post about the thread? Harry is making it quite clear how the team feel and how he is enjoying having such a great squad of players, players who under your favourite Groves were looking at relegation! Howe has come in and made a big difference, he has players who can cover in a number of positions, not just those that can play in just one, we could quite happily play Seabourne and Partington in the middle, Ritchie at left back and Francis on the right, that's without Cook, also Hughes can play as a sweeper, so we have options, ok Ritchie wouldn't be as effective but we have done well on the wings before he joined and he did a good job last week. Elphick will be back in a couple of weeks and MacDonald has started training so is on the way back, also at a push so to Addison, so we do have cover, not ideal but most teams in this league would fall over backwards as this headline suggests for any of these players.

We have James as a coach at the moment so he's still here, as for keepers, Flavs is out of contract in the summer, so to James, that will leave us with Jalal and Alsopp as the main two with the other lad part of the developement squad, it's all a plan sir!!

It's not long ago that Charlie Austin got fit with us in the Summer and was looking forward to playing for AFCB. Then the gin swillers at the Football League refused to let us sign him up. This was after they tricked Eddie into letting our young keeper go to create a space in the squad.Swindon took a punt and the made £2 million on him. I dont remember anyone giving us any sympathy. Eddie and Jason just got on with it and were forced to play some of the lads while injured, to the eternal shame of the Football League.
Now the boot's on the other foot and long may it last. Let's enjoy the ride.

Sorry pal, I don't know how many games you have watched him play in over the last three seasons. Harry Arter has oozed class since he first arrived at the club. He has always been a quality player, whether he was playing under Eddie, Bradders or Groves and is continually improving. I don't think has ever gone backwards in his career. Admittedly he has confronted refs and been too verbal on occasions. Though I don't think there are many players in league 1 that I'd swap him for. A great creative player that at times shows premiership quality, we are lucky to have him. It's about time the knockers got off his back and accepted him for the talented, flawed genius he is.

Completely agree with everything you've said about Arter.I told my mate at the start of the season i thought he'd be pivotal for us and think that has been the case thus far.I sometimes wonder if our fellow fans watch the same players as me,moaning about Arter or Addison,talking about Zubar as though he's the greatest centre back that's ever worn the red and black shirt.
For me i knew Groves's time was up when we played MK Dons in our first home game back in September when Arter was absolutely running the show first half but then didn't emerge for the second,must've picked up an injury i thought but,oh no,he was replaced for tactical reasons!The bloke was running the show!For me Arter,on song,has some of the best vision i've seen from a player in the centre of the park at this level.Yes,he can be a bit clumsy from time to time with his short passes and a bit too gobby with refs but give the lad a break,he's a young 'un with bags of ability and many more seasons to develop.
The same with Addison,so many negative comments about the guy and yet he hardly loses a header or a tackle.Again can be a touch careless from time to time with his distribution that have cost a goal or two but still learning and will be a massive player for us as time goes on.
Zubar is a player i like very much but don't really understand the hero worship.He's a good centre back but better then Elphick,Cook or Addison?Probably not in my opinion but hey,that's all it is,my opinion.Anyway,Eddie picks the team and seems to have got most of it right so far!

We havent over spent the fact of the matter is Di Canio has spent within the budget.
The situation at our club is that the current owner decide he wont put anymore money into the club and he gave a dealine of the 31st of january as the last time he would put any money in.
He has put 13 million in to the club and isnt prepared to put more in.
So - we havent overspent - What is it with opposing fans that you get your stupid ideas of us over spending.
If your Russian did the same at your club you would have the same problem.

so were 3rd now tonight afer leaping over you and if Tranmere or Doncaster lose saturday we will be 2nd if we beat Hartlepool.

It must be on a huge wage bill the same problem we had with Redknapp years ago, we had a break even gate number of about 9000 and could only get about 7000 in the old deancourt , things just didnt add up,
