Cherries: Keeper's jersey is in Shwan's hands says Howe
7:00am Friday 25th January 2013 in Latest Sport
MANAGER Eddie Howe has thrown down the gauntlet to recalled goalkeeper Shwan Jalal by urging him to take his chance.
Howe drafted in Jalal at the expense of David James for Cherries’ 2-1 victory over Hartlepool on Tuesday night.
The 29-year-old had not started a League One match since being replaced by former England star James in September.
Cherries boss Howe is now calling on Jalal to stake his claim by building on his performance at Hartlepool.
Howe told the Daily Echo: “Distribution-wise, he was very good with his feet, his choice of kicking and where he kicked, and he made a couple of valuable saves for us.
“I don’t think we will see him at his very best until he gets a run but I was pleased with him on Tuesday.”
Asked if he planned to give Jalal that run in the team, Howe replied: “We will wait and see. It is in his hands.
“He played on Tuesday, we won and he performed well. Now, it is in his hands and, hopefully, he can take his chance.”

Targeting one player who has served this club more than any current player and was not fairly treated by successive managements is not helpful.

Was Eddie not watching when he made his f**k-up for their goal, Jalal is a liability, he make me nervous when he has the ball at his feet, and the defence also look nervous around him, not comanding enough. What has James done to be dropped?? i've not seen him have a bad game, as far as i seen he made one mistake against Wigan at home witht he freekick and that's it. He give me a far better feeling than Jalal

bought Ryan Allsop to warm the bench.
He wants the best possible player in
each position to give us impetus for
the run in.

Im not having a dig at Shwan, merely pointing out that all keepers make mistakes. Jamws had 4 consecutive clean sheets prior to this blip.
