Cherries: Tindall hints at changes

ASSISTANT boss Jason Tindall has hinted Cherries may again make changes for their FA Cup third round replay against Wigan.

Shwan Jalal, Richard Hughes, Josh McQuoid and Matt Tubbs all started against the Latics 10 days ago when Eddie Howe shuffled his pack for the 1-1 draw at the DW Stadium.

Tindall, who reported a clean bill of health following Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Swindon, told the Daily Echo: “We are fortunate enough to have a really good squad and some really good players who haven’t started too many games so maybe this will be an opportunity to rest one or two who are a little fatigued.

“Everyone seems to have come through after the Swindon game. Harry Arter came off towards the end but that was just precautionary.”

Asked whether Cherries would have to approach the tie differently being the home team, Tindall replied: “When you are the home team, there is more emphasis on you to attack and to take the game to the opposition. We have got to do what we feel is right to win the game.

“We will have a game-plan and, hopefully, if we can stick to it, we will get it right. We have got to give Wigan a lot of respect. They are a Premier League side and have got players who can hurt you in an instant. We have got to be mindful of the quality they have got.”

Cherries and the Latics will face off for the right to travel to Conference outfit Macclesfield in the fourth round later this month.

Tindall said: “Macclesfield will probably fancy their chances after beating Cardiff in the third round. Whoever goes through will give them their full respect.”

Although Tindall played for Cherries during a few barren seasons in the FA Cup, he says he will always fondly remember his debut in the competition against Nuneaton in 2002.

He added: “As a kid, you always dreamed of scoring the winning goal in the FA Cup final and, when I was growing up, I used to dream that I was Ian Wright scoring in the cup final because he was my hero.

“It was something special when I made my first appearance in the cup.

“It is a great cup and a great occasion for the supporters and the players.”

Cherries: (from) James, Francis, Cook, Elphick, Daniels, McQuoid, Fogden, Arter, Hughes, O’Kane, Pugh, Pitman, Thomas, Grabban, Tubbs, McDermott, Partington, Fletcher, Demouge, Jalal.

If Wigan play their reserve team again, we may be in with a chance. If they play their reguar first team, we're stuffed. I find it quite odd that the scrabble for tickets for this game was so intense. Makes you wonder if all these part time supporters are coming tonight to watch the Cherries or Wigan reserves. Personally, I am not interested in this game and will be interested to see how many of these glory hunters will be at Walsall on Saturday.

Mike Oxbig - I will be at the game tonight, as I was at Wigan, as I was last Saturday and as I will be next Saturday at Bescot Stadium. Into which category do I fit in your scenario?

When was the last time we were in the 3rd round and with an excellent chance of making it to the 5th!

Suppose you'll be a glory hunter then.

Support the lads for each game they play.
