Byerley boost for boss Killick

POOLE boss Tom Killick has been handed a festive boost after neighbours Dorchester gave striker Warren Byerley the green light to spend a second month at Tatnam.

Byerley has made a huge impression since dual registering with the Dolphins, netting four times in five appearances for the Southern League Division One South & West high-fliers.

The 27-year-old, who is on non-contract terms with Conference South Dorchester, will be available to Poole over the hectic Christmas and New Year period.

Dorchester will continue to have first call on Byerley but Magpies boss Phil Simkin has a gentleman’s agreement with Killick allowing the player to stay until the start of next month.

Killick, who saw Byerley score twice during Saturday’s 3-0 win over Cirencester, told the Daily Echo: “Phil has agreed to extend it for a second month and we appreciate that very much. I would be absolutely delighted if we could keep Warren for longer but it is not in my hands.”

Byerley is again set to lead the line when second-placed Poole bid to make up ground on leaders Hungerford when they visit promoted Winchester City tonight (7.45pm).

Poole are one of three Southern League clubs to have been linked with Winchester City striker Michael Charles. Gosport Borough and Didcot Town are also understood to be on his trail.
