Cherries: Howe urges Stockley to make most of Woking loan

CHERRIES boss Eddie Howe has tasked Jayden Stockley with returning “a better player” from his loan spell with Conference outfit Woking.
Stockley, who has not featured for Cherries for eight months, today completed a short-term move to the Surrey club and will remain with the Cards until January 5.
Former boss Paul Groves surprisingly placed the teenage striker in a newly-formed development squad at Goldsands Stadium at the start of this season.
But Stockley was immediately promoted back to the first-team ranks by Howe in one of his first acts as manager after returning to the club last month.
Stockley made 10 appearances during a loan spell with League Two Accrington Stanley last season and was handed his Football League debut by Howe in October 2009 - a month after his 16th birthday.
Howe, who unearthed Stockley during his time working in the Cherries youth ranks in 2008, told the Daily Echo tonight: “Jayden needs to play some football. With the size of our squad, it has been difficult to see him much either in training or in games. But he is someone we still hold in high regard.
“It will be interesting to see how he does on loan to a club at a decent level. He needs to go there and perform and do well to come back a better player.
“We have got good links with Woking and Jason (Tindall) has a good relationship with their manager Garry Hill from his Weymouth days. That is how the move came about.
“I think it will be a good move for him. It is a good level and it will definitely develop his game. He is still young and needs to be playing so, hopefully, he can go there and do that.”
Stockley, whose two goals for Cherries came in a 4-1 win over Hereford in last season's Johnstone's Paint Trophy, could make his debut for Woking against Alfreton at Kingfield on Saturday.
Meanwhile, Howe reported no other loan moves - either in or out - were currently in the pipeline.

Jayden definitely needs game time, but what concerns me is that he is now going to a Conference club when last year he spent time and did well for Accrington Stanley in League Two. Why is he not being loaned to another League Two club? Has no-one come in for him or has his form dipped below League Two standard under Groves & Brooks? Oh actually I just answered my question.
It wasn't that long ago that we loaned out a certain young James Hayter to Salisbury and that did him the world of good.
When we had such a large squad why was it a surprise to some people that young Jayden was included in Development squad games by Groves. How else was a young fringe player going to get games when there was nothing else for him to play in?
You also have to think of the logistics with a young player going out on loan needing transport/family support etc.
To me Jayden playing in the Development Squad was one of the few sensible decisions made by Groves.
Surely the Development Squad is primarily for Under 21's not how we have it of squad players who are really surpus to requirements.
