DORSET new boy Jack Leach has revealed his friendship with Somerset colleagues Max Waller and Chris Jones was a key factor in him joining the Dean Park outfit.
Leach, who plundered 13 wickets on his Dorset debut during their three-wicket win over Herefordshire this week, said: “I’m good friends with Max and Chris.
“They’ve both played for Dorset and recommended the players as a good bunch of lads.
“I tried to play for them last year. I took six wickets for Somerset 2nds against Dorset in a one-day friendly and was asked after that.
“But I had a couple of matches for Somerset 2nds and this week’s Herefordshire game was the first time I had the opportunity because I also play for Cardiff (UCC).
“I enjoyed the game and the Dorset boys are a great bunch of lads. They made me feel really welcome.
“Now I hope to be able to play against Cornwall early next month because I don’t think there is a Somerset game then.
“I’m looking forward to it and getting another good win because we’re in contention for the Minor Counties Championship.”
