PIRATES have confirmed Karol Baran as their new number seven.

The Pole, who rode for Ipswich in 2005, comes in on loan from the Witches.

Poole Castle Cover chief Matt Ford said: “Karol only rode here one year in 2005 when he achieved a 3.00 average.

“He comes back into British speedway on that average.

“His form has been reasonably good this year on the continent.

“Ipswich is a different type of track to ours, it is a lot more narrow.

“But Karol is looking forward to having a bit more success on a track that is a bit wider.

“He likes the shape of our track and is very keen to ride here so we will have three new faces in our team at home to Eastbourne on Wednesday, Ben Wilson, Hans Andersen and Karol.

“We are still hopeful that in the not too distant future there will be a doubling up opportunity for Paul Hurry, who Karol has replaced, if he fixes himself up with a Premier League club.

“Although at the moment we are more than happy to give Ben and Paul Fry every chance to impress in that role.”

Poole’s re-declared one-to-seven and their individual rider averages are: Hans Andersen 9.39, Bjarne Pedersen 6.93, Chris Holder 8.47, Joe Screen 7.23, Daniel Davidsson 3.65, Ben Wilson 3.22 (or Paul Fry 3.10), Karol Baran 3.00.
