HIGH-FLYING Lee James has shrugged off a rare low point to his season in Italy on Sunday to concentrate on this week’s battle of Waterloo.

James, who won the previous European Challenge Tour event in France, plummeted 31 places after a six-over-par closing round of 78 in the Piemonte Open in Torino.

The Broadstone star dropped an incredible eight shots in as many holes before pulling his game together on the back nine with two birdies.

“I was heading for a nightmare score,” admitted James, who is in Belgium this week for the Telenet Trophy at Royal Waterloo.

“I had been hitting the ball well for the first three days, but started missing greens on the final day.

“I chipped up to three or five feet on six occasions, but missed every one.

"My poor putting was the story of the week,” added James who finished in a tie for 46th place on two-over-par.

“But I can take a lot of positives out of the first three days and the last nine holes on Sunday. My goal remains to finish in the top-10 every week.”

James, who slipped one place to fourth in the money list, tees off in the first round of the Telenet Trophy at 1.20pm tomorrow afternoon.
