LYMINGTON took full advantage of a depleted Poole Park team in A Division.

Lymo skips Kay Richardson (28-5) and Jean Stopp (29-9) maintained a firm hand on the tiller as Lymington sailed into Poole Park, cruised through the match (57-14) and returned home with maximum points.

There were six points for Southbourne who accounted for West Moors (46-28). Sue Dadson’s crew of Shirley Winn, Elizabeth Messer and Jan Dearling (25-11) claimed top rink honours from Olive Fidler’s quartet (21-17).

New Milton and Broadstone both notched up their first victories. New Milton were placed in a strong position by Judy Busby, Sandy Elder, Sheila Godwin and Wendy Reed (22-12) and this, aligned with Sheila Nicoll’s rink holding on resolutely (25-24), rendered Redhill’s journey pointless.

Broadstone’s victory came at Iford Bridge. The hosts’ winning rink of Rene Stanger (21-13) was eclipsed by Ros Valentine, Janet Harford, Sibil Ball and Anne Williams (28-4) for the Wessex girls.

Braeside suffered a rare home defeat (26-38) at the hands of Richmond Park. Sylvia Postill, Monica Niemier, Lynda Gorf and Muriel Groves’s narrow 23-20 win proved to be sufficient.

B DIVISION

SWANMORE continued their positive start to the season with a 4-2 (40-36) success over Argyll. Doreen Durnford, Linda Pocknell, Jill Griffiths and Rosie Lester (26-14) paved the way for a Swans victory, but not without stiff resistance from Argyll skip Norma Ritchens (22-14).

Pam Fordham, Val Rowberry, Jean Carter and Sheila Thomson (27-11) kick-started Broadstone’s campaign into life, earning a 4-2 (42-37) triumph over visitors Brockenhurst.

Pelhams’ Beth Roberts (21-21) denied West Moors six points by picking up a last-end four. Anne Savage, Sandra Rhodes, Pat Chant and Olive Freeman had already posted a match-winning 20-16 for the Moors.

Wimborne, after two successive draws, struck gold when overcoming visitors Richmond Park 4-2 (46-40). Pat Gallup’s girls (26-14) set up the Minster win, while Jill Bryant (26-20) gained two points for Richmond.

C DIVISION

DESPITE sharing points at Fordingbridge (36-36), Bournemouth stay at the top. Bournemouth looked in control until the last end, when home skips Jenny Alder (12-22) and Mary Wych (24-14) collected three shots between them.

Kings Park retained their unbeaten tag with a 4-2 (40-34) win over New Milton. Anne Hill, Jean Tricksey, Pauline Harris and Beryl Nuttall (24-10) outgunned New Milton’s winning skip Liz Benson (24-16).

Christchurch set aside their off-green problems by demolishing Southbourne (46-29). Beryl Round, Doreen Hewitt, Hilda Cummings and Mary Poore (24-14) were the pride of the Priory, with Ann Gill’s quartet (22-15) completing the six-point tally.

Highcliffe’s dazzling performance, inspired by skips Janet Emerson (26-19) and Valerie Snook (18-15), ensured a 6-0 win over Lymington.

D DIVISION

BRANKSOME Park soared into top spot after outgunning Pelhams (51-27).

Sue Harris, Helen Elmiger, Val King and Lola Barker (26-13), with solid support from team-mates on Irene Button’s rink (25-14), captured all six points. Previous leaders Pelhams II lost out at home to Milford-on-Sea 2-4 (38-39). Betty Whitehead, Sheila Hall, Margaret Jeakings and Diana Goodyear (23-17) providing the boost for Milford.

Following two 6-0 defeats, Swanmore bucked the trend with a maximum points haul on the West Cliff where the visitors held on to win (37-33) in a closely- fought encounter with Argyll.

Highcliffe also opened up their account with a full house at Redhill Park. Good teamwork from the quartets of Audrey Mason (23-20) and Jane Wilks (22-19) saw the Castle Maidens home safe and sound.

Kings Park are still seeking their first win after losing 4-2 (44-37) at Alexandra Park.

E DIVISION

MOORDOWN put nearest challengers Southbourne in their place with a resounding 6-0 (42-30) triumph at the Water Tower with Moordown skips Cathy France (22-15) and Pat Martin (20-15) overseeing the situation.

Poole Park and Richmond Park remain unbeaten, both sides having only played two matches.

Poole Park registered a 6-0 win at West Moors with Mo Mowlam (19-17) and Phyl Wallis (18-15) guiding the Lakesiders to victory in a hard-fought match.

Carol Gariano, Anslie Kibby, Dorothy Borthwick and Ann Lodge (37-12) paved the way for Richmond Park’s 4-2 (37-30) success over visiting Braeside.

Broadstone broke their league duck with a convincing 38-29 win at Lymington.

F DIVISION

FERNDOWN continued their impressive form by taking maximum points at Braeside (42-33) West Moors collected two points at New Milton thanks to Shirley Sadler’s charges (24-22). This was well and truly covered by Beryl Midgley, Penny Daly, Yvonne Tansley and Betty Barton (18-11), handing the hosts an overall victory (40-35).

New Milton’s other team in this section did not fare so well, losing 2-4 at Shelley Park.

G DIVISION

REDHILL Park achieved back-to-back 6-0 wins, with a definitive (43-26) success at Branksome Park.

Highcliffe stormed the West Cliff, but were easily repelled as Argyll skips Emmie Drinkwater (29-15) and Bobby Thomson (21-10) steered their side to maximum points.

Milford–on–Sea notched up their first victory of the season at the expense of Swanmore, . Carole Tearle, Merle Youngman and Chris Capron (25-19) ensured a 4-2 (41-37) triumph for the Seasiders.
