TAFFY Richardson has pledged his future to Poole Town – but he knows living up to recent successes will provide one of the biggest tests of his distinguished career.

The veteran midfielder was a key part of the Dolphins team which comfortably claimed Wessex League championship glory last season.

And Richardson has opted to remain at Tatnam, although he knows maintaining their position as top dogs will be difficult.

He told the Echo: “The second season is always the hardest.

“When we won everything with Wimborne – the Dorset Senior Cup, FA Vase and Wessex League – it doesn’t get much more successful than that.

“But everyone learned a lesson because we were favourites the next season and we didn’t get close to winning anything.

“We can’t rest on our laurels because everyone will be out to beat us.”

Poole will go into next season without influential keeper Jason Harvell, who has joined Bournemouth Poppies, but boss Tom Killick has signed talented wide men, brothers Trefor and Pete Smith.
