DORSET’S Lee James continued his impressive start to the European Challenge Tour season today by securing another payday in Torino, Italy.

James, who received 24,500 Euros for winning his fifth Tour title in France on Sunday, safely negotiated the halfway cut in the Piemonte Open with two consecutive one-under-par 71s.

The 36-year-old Broadstone player chalked up three birdies, without dropping a shot on the front nine, before a late lapse saw him drop out of the top 10.

“I played well for the first 10 holes and then started missing fairways and dropped two shots in the last three,” explained James.

“It could have been alot better, but I’m playing well and in a good position to make a move over the next few days.”

James was eight shots behind home favourite and early pace-setter Edoardo Molinari.
