PAUL Baker admitted there had been enquiries about some of Cherries’ stars but then insisted that he does NOT intend to sell any of them.

Co-owner Baker is actively seeking a buyer for the Dorset club, but while he is looking to end his association with the Dean Court outfit, he does not want any of Eddie Howe’s squad to do the same.

The Chester-based businessman, who is holding talks with a number of interested parties with a view to selling the club, yesterday admitted Cherries had received enquiries for some unnamed members of Howe’s team.

But with the vultures circling, Baker was keen to stress his desire to retain the squad which steered Cherries clear of League Two relegation.

He told the Echo: “There have been one or two expressions of interest but we’re keen to keep the squad together. We’re looking to keep every player.

“The squad that we’ve got and any players out of contract that Eddie wants to keep, we’re keen to keep.

“There have been expressions of interest in certain players but we don’t want to weaken the squad.

“The main thing is to keep everyone together and we want to try to build on where we finished the season.

“Eddie wants to keep them, I want to keep them and I’m sure potential club purchasers are keen to keep every player we’ve got because they are all great assets for the football club.”

With one firm takeover bid already on the table, Baker also revealed that he expected further offers to buy the League Two club to be submitted in the near future.
