PIRATES chief Matt Ford has confirmed the Dorset club are leading the race to secure Hans Andersen’s signature.

Ford is hoping to bring the Danish star to Wimborne Road in order to boost Poole Castle Cover’s flagging play-off hopes.

He told the club’s official website: “We have been interested in bringing Hans back for a while but a fortnight ago it looked as though his parent club Peterborough were going to use him.

“But their upturn in form has made it nigh on impossible for them to accommodate him in their one-to-seven. Therefore, they have given us, and other teams, permission to talk to Hans and we have reached agreement with Hans to ride for us.

“However, at this stage we cannot jump the gun too quickly as we will require acceptance of any re-declared one-to-seven, but while I do not envisage any major problems, I am not running away with things at this stage. As soon as I am in a position to confirm further details I will do so.”
