KEV KEEN TO HELP CRAIG

KEVIN Bond is hoping Cherries can "bring out the best" in Craig Lindfield, after the young striker joined on loan from Liverpool yesterday.

Lindfield, who signed in time to be considered for selection this afternoon against Exeter City (3pm, Dean Court), will remain with Cherries until the end of December.

The England under-19 international has risen through the Anfield academy ranks and graduated to the senior squad ahead of the 2006-07 campaign.

Despite scoring 12 goals in the club's 2006 and 2007 FA Youth Cup-winning sides, the Wirral-born forward is yet to make his competitive debut for the Reds' first team.

But he is highly regarded and will add much-needed depth to Bond's attacking resources, with transfer-listed Jo Kuffour likely to leave the club shortly.

"He has a good attitude and is highly thought of up in Liverpool," Bond told the Daily Echo.

"The only problem, maybe, for so many youngsters at those sort of clubs, is they have so many players and can't give them all a game. They need to get them out to give them experience.

"I spoke to a couple of people I know there and everyone spoke really highly of him. I'm glad to have him on board and it increases our options up front."

Lindfield, who will battle it out with Brett Pitman and fellow loanee Ricky Sappleton for a starting spot, has experienced league football before.

The 19-year-old spent brief loan spells at Notts County in 2007 and Chester in 2008, and Bond believes this could be "hugely important" as he aims to settle into life in League Two with Cherries.

"Obviously he has a really good pedigree and I hope we can help bring out the best in him," added the Cherries boss.

Meanwhile, co-owner Alastair Saverimutto told the Echo last night that he was working to bring in another player and secure the services of a "major member" of the squad on a permanent basis.

But he was not expecting to seal any further deals until next week.

  • Injury worries Jason Pearce and Marvin Bartley both trained yesterday and are likely to play against Exeter today.

But Shwan Jalal could be a doubt after limping out of the Canford School session with a dead leg.

You have to wonder what training they are doing a day before a game to pick up these injuries, something about their training just isn't working, surely it's better to start with your first 11 rather than run them into the ground trying to get the super fit and then they break down in training, something needs to be looked at it's been happening too often for it to be just bad luck.

Good point, and what the heck is Jalal doing 'Limping' out of training, He's a flippin Goalkeeper, if it was a broken finger fair enough but this guy should be wrapped in cotton wool bearing in mind the lack of cover.

I totally agree with macca on the training issue.
I was one of Bonds critics last season (although didn't post on here) and was of the school of thought that our run at the end of the season was due to the selection constraints and players reaction to -10 points rather than Bonds nouse as a football manager. However, during the debacle of summer events I felt Bond was talking a lot of sense and was coming round to giving him the benefit of doubt. What I didn't take into account was that we had no games over the summer!!!
The start of the season, in my opinion has been poor and Bond seems to be making the same mistakes as he did last year (ie. plenty of loan signings, playing players out of position, lack of ideas/tactics etc.). Time will tell if I'm right but it seems to me, despite Bonds spiel over the summer months he hasn't learnt a dam thing from last seasons disastrous start!

In defence of KB he's fighting a constant up hill battle, he's got very little to play with in terms of players and Money to spend, his tactics at times are left wanting, but in our current state I honestly don't think theres anyone out there who could do a better job. As I said in a previous post, this is an ideal situation now for sport 6 to really show the supporters how serious they are in taking this club forward, we're hearing a lot of waft coming out the club, but with the money coming in from Jo and the apparent funds that are available lets bring in a big name signing to lift the spirits of the supporters and show there intent in taking our football club forward.

Every team in the Country has training injuries - look at Arsenal,Pompey and Man U , our problem was and is the small squad that our financial position dictates, at least this Season we don't have several players with a history of injuries. Loan players are a fact of life these days and we have had some very good players here as a result, Max last Season McGoldrick and Cork are all players who will go on to play at the highest level. We could have had all six points this Season, with a little luck and a decent referee so it is a little early for the anti Bond group to start up again!

in view of the number of injuries we appear to get during training and many of them happen on a Friday just 24 hours away from a game, perhaps we could call in an expert to view our training methods to see if we are correct in our approach to matches

In Germany they have a saying "if the head of the fish stinks, then the whole fish stinks"

My point here boys is that we are not even doing the basics right, which in the end, is direction that comes from the top.

All these injuries this earlier in the season is pathetic.

No wonder Kuffour slapped in a transfer request after just 2 games he knows that the whole club, from ownership through to coaching is seriously below par.

All this is just another cog in the wheel of going nowhere!!. Too many loan signings, operating with a far too smaller squad, too many over thirty somethings. The side is unbalanced, too lightweight, no fire power in front of goal, no physical presence and the signing of 'low heel' quality of players.

And before anybody says that this is a negative post - I am just saying it how it is !!! Open your eyes folks

Regards

I think you make a reasonable point however before we throw the ‘stinking fish’ away let us remember that about three weeks ago we didn’t even know if we had a ‘fish’ to support. I like many of you am tempted to criticise KB for the lack of success on the field however even the best premiership manager don’t always get what they want out of the players. It is far too early to start judging KB let us see where we are in month or so time and only then if things aren’t right we can demand his removal. Some of you may well be right but let us wait and see.

Very good point.
Ferdinand, Defoe, Dubery and Oshea didnt do to badly after coming here on loan and did a very good job for us

They were great players that did a great job for us, I think the point thats being made at the moment is the fact we're so heavily reliant on this loan players coming in we can't actually build anything sustainable going forward, but hey if it drags us out the plop over the next few weeks and this chap scores a hatful of goals then we'll all be made up, but the real issue is we can't actually build a team to take us forward coz as soon as the team starts to gel and we get a bit of success the players will end up returning back to there parent clubs and we then have to start from scratch again.

macca02, Farpoint says...
1:03pm Sat 23 Aug 08

If we want to build going forward then surely we need to do that with the right players and not just any players, these quality loan signings may be short term but if they get us the results whilst the club recovers then surely that is what we need, all this talk 2 weeks after nearly being gone about long term goals is asking too much too soon, we have to survive this time and then build next season, it is far too much to expect everything to be sorted out this quickly. I recall how happy everyone was that Friday how can we have got from that to people writing us off after 2 games, I get the feeling those that are never supported the buy in the first place and now have a case of sour grapes. Lindfield has played at a much higher level than our younger players and will bring some much needed pace to the team. We can get a win today and then we will see what happens in the next week or so, I for one will not start writing our team off after 2 draws and no defeats in the league and improving performances, I can't think why anyone would.

ClintW, Bournemouth says...
1:54pm Sat 23 Aug 08

Of course we need to do it with the right players, i've not suggested we should do otherwise, and I agree we can't expect things to happen over night. But a perfect example of what i'm talking about is what Mel Machin did during the great escape season, he signed players on longer term deals, steve Robinson, Neil Young, Ian Andrews, the list goes on, and we managed then to build on that year on year into what proved to be a half decent team. At the moment we will not manage a sustained level of success this season if loan players keep coming and going.

Still struggling to find our level even at the bottom of the league. Sorry nothing personal Macca, just angry at the cr*p I have commited to watch for a season again. Mr Bond please note!

You are entitled to your opinion as am I, I agree the result and the way we played was not acceptable, I still stand by what I said though, people have been very quick to get the knife in early with the new owners, we knew where we were weeks ago and yet they still couldn't wait to get stuck in at the first sign of trouble, what we need now is the new owners to show us what they are all about and we also need to support the team, hard to do after yesterday but if ever they need us it's now, Bond must be fast running out of time, I had a inkling the new owners wanted him gone when they took over so perhaps that might happen, it wouldn't give a new boss long to sort the team out, and why bring in the loanees and then not play them is beyond me? So by all means be sick of it I feel the same, there is only so much we can give, time for the owners to show their hand, but whatever happens we must stick together.

One other thing, we can't keep looking at Rotherhams results, we must only concentrate on our own, what they do has nothing to do with what we do, they have had a great start but they have not had the same teams that we have, do you know we have yet to play a league 2 team from last season.

I would rather not concentrate on our own results at the moment they are too depressing. As for Bond i agree he doesnt have his guardian angel here now (or at least without any power) so he needs to get his act together I have tried to see the good in him but Yesterday was down to his nonsense selection. Hollands shouldnt have been brought back so quickly . Once again Pitman proved the doubters right and two lon striker one who scored last week starting on the bench what on earth is he doing.

We have to stop blaming the owners whoever they are it's time for Bond to prove he's got what it takes the decisions yesterday were inept at best, I am amazed that a year on from us calling for a change he is still doing the same things, we have given him the benefit more times than anyone else in his job anywhere in the leagues, and with the new owners and no longer being in admin or on the brink the excuses from last year have no bearing anymore, the only thing the new owners should be doing is everything they can to improve the team if that means the manager or it means new players whatever it is that should be their priority.

I know I will get slagged off here but here goes, I'm a Gashead living here in Bournemouth, and I just wish you lot would get behind your team, all I see on here is constant moaning and the urge to destroy Bmth football club, it's so easy to criticize every one when your back is against the wall, but this does not help the team, Bournemouth like Rovers have been a selling club, as soon as we get someone with any talent, he gets sold, we have been in dire straights, at times we couldn’t see light at the end of the tunnel. Do you honestly think K.B wants to manage a bad team, remember, he has no money to spend, he has to do his very best with no resources, he has to be a miracle worker, a lot of you of course like many of our fans know better than the manager, that is your opinion which you are entitled to, but, at the end of the day how many of you could actually do a better job, just stand back and think about it, your team desperately needs your support, you have to keep the faith, no matter how tough the going gets, if KB had a few million pounds to spend then I would certainly have a pop at him, but he hasn’t, he has sod all, what is he supposed to do, do you think the players like the situation they find themselves in, do you think they will respond to lots of negative comments from the fans, Bmth football club has a very good reputation amongst fans from other clubs for trying to play football the right way, and I believe that if it means bringing in eleven loanees then so be it, but remember, even loanees have to be paid, and where does the money come from?
The good times will return, no matter how bleak the future seems, you have to keep believing that, it’s slowly starting to happen after many at the Rovers and I see no reason why the same cant happen at Bmth, you have a huge mountain to climb, but you have to dig in and keep supporting your team……………………………

Yes. We were rubbish on Saturday - the three coachloads of exeter fans suggesting I partake in acts of oneism ont he way to the game pretty much set the tone - but that was then.

We'll pick up three points against the vale on saturday and well be down to -12. Rotherham will lose and it will all look a lot better.

Keep the faith!
