LUIS Sinisterra believes Cherries missed the “clean” passing of his close friend and teammate Marcos Senesi after he picked up a recent hamstring injury.

Senesi came off during the early stages of victory at Burnley at the start of this month, with Chris Mepham brought on to replace him.

Alongside Illia Zabarnyi at centre-back, Mepham helped Cherries keep a clean sheet in a 2-0 victory.

Andoni Iraola’s men then made hard work of their subsequent two fixtures, home games against relegation-threatened Sheffield United and Luton Town.

Cherries came from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 with the Blades, before storming back from 3-0 behind to defeat the Hatters 4-3 in their last fixture.

Sinisterra, who himself is now also sidelined with a hamstring problem, came off the bench against Sheffield United and impressed in the fightback.

Discussing Senesi’s absence from the side, having played such a key role this season, Sinisterra told the Daily Echo: “Marcos brings you a lot of things to the team, like that first pass is always clean.

“I think we missed that (against Sheffield United), especially when you want to play into space.

“But I am sure he will be back soon and he will be with the team very soon.”

Cherries rescued a point in that fixture thanks to a last-gasp equaliser from Enes Unal, the striker’s first goal since joining the club on loan from Getafe.

“I’m very happy for him,” said Sinisterra.

“He’s a really good guy. He trained very well during the week and he deserved the goal, for sure.”
