ANDONI Iraola admits he is unsure if Richard Hughes plans to try and take some of Cherries' star players with him to Liverpool.

It was announced earlier this month Hughes will leave his role as technical director at the end of this season, to take up a position as sporting director at Merseyside giants Liverpool.

The Reds have been linked with many of Cherries’ current squad in the past, including the likes of Lloyd Kelly, Milos Kerkez and Alex Scott.

With Hughes set to play a key role in recruitment at the Reds this summer, some fans have raised concerns the Scot could return to try and poach some Cherries players to take with him to the north west.

Asked if he is worried about that prospect, particularly given Cherries scouting duo Mark Burchill and Craig McKee are set to join Hughes at Liverpool, Iraola told the Daily Echo: “I don’t know what they will do.

“I think as long as they meet the requirements the club sets and the offer is good for everyone, this is football.

“I don’t know what is going to happen in the market. It is too early to talk about this.

“The summer is still far away. We have a lot of things to play for.

“But whenever the market is open, there are always chances for these things to happen, yes.”
