Well, well, well! Funny how this article gets published after the Bond article refering to "loanees" earlier in the week! Anyway great to hear words like these from the club. To be honest this is our only chance to survive by nuturing future stars that will eventually earn us dosh. Crewe being the model we should follow.

Great news re the youngsters they have all taken their chances well when called upon.
If the budget allows it also have a look at Danny Seabourne 20 year old captain of Exeter City.Great potential and can play anywhere along backline and in midfield.
With a smallish squad next season it pays to have a few versatile players available.
With regard to the Darren Anderton situation can I make the following observations. When he signed AFCB were in 8th position in league one.This season we had only won two league matches when he got injured in November. Results started to improve when Danny Hollands took over that area.Anderton came back into a winning team towards the end of the season.Although he played well in the first half he faded in the second period.At Walsall the pidgeon in our goalmouth looked more energetic during the second 45 before Anderton was substituted.
We must also remember that even if we sign Anderton on a pay as you play scheme we have to allow for that in the playing budget, reducing other options.If he is injured and we need to get in a short term replacement the player we want may not be available.
So on balance do we re-sign an injury prone player who may give us 20 games or do we look for another Danny Hollands type or wide player who can give us say 40 games and be better value?

Kenno interesting comment. What value do you place on experience. I wonder what affect Ando has had on the development of the younger lads. I would think there is plenty of value in keeping a player of his experience and ability around the club. I am not sure of the finer details of his contract but I would think if he only gets paid when he plays then Bondie would only play him when he is playing good enough. Meanwhile the youngsters I would hope are benefitting greatly from his presence at training etc. I might be wrong but I would be very keen to keep him if he is interested. I'm not comparing myself to any of the lads at AFCB but I do remember as a young player out here in OZ what a learning curve it was playing and training with the senior players (ex British Pros and Oz Internationals)it was amazing what you learnt in a 90 min practice game compared to 3 months training at schoolboy level. Anyhow that's my thoughts.

Oops I forgot. While it is great news that we are signing the youngsters how does it work if we are still in admin and can't actually negotiate and sign the seniors that are out of contract. Hope all this attention does not alert others to there potential at least until we are in a position to profit from them.

We should still be well served in that department if Cummins,Bradbury and Moss are still there next year. I am sure their knowledge will rub off on our promising future stars.
As far as attitude, motivaion and leadership is concerned they will do well to just follow the example of Danny Hollands. The progression that Danny has made during the last six months with responsibility thrust upon his young shoulders has been remarkable.

See I disagree, although he isnt 90 mins match fit, his passing, vision and experience is invaluable at this level. Does the fact that he set up a goal at Walsall with a killer pass get forgotten with you Kenno.
Funny how are run of 20 out of 24 points came when Anderton came back. Having been out for 4 and 1/2 months!!

Who I support is relevant especially on a thread about the youth players of AFCB, and they do have one of the best sets of youth players outside the prem, just look at our record in recent years, what the unmentionables do is of no concern to me and to be quite frank I don't give a toss.

I live in Southampton territory and work a mile from their ground and choose to support AFCB but realistically purely because of finance and league standing we cant compete with them. I dont like their club set up but am far more interested in my own club to waste time slagging someone elses off. Live and let live we dont have to like them but lifes too short. Get real

Wasn't Anderton signed by SO'D when we were 8th in League 1?

Then Bond came along and we lost 7 in a row and were in the relegation zone.

Vokes or any other Player for that matter produced by this Club would never go for that kind of money because all the so called big boys who creamed off all the primiership money can afford to hold on to players while the likes of us fall prey to the higher league vultures getting players on the cheap. I agree with all that it would have been intersesting to see what would have happened had we stayed up as we deserved to and they had come down as they deserved to. Alas not to be this Year anyway. I think we did deserve to stay up look at your own finances but the rest of what you said has soom creedance but we wont go out of the League
One things for sure however bad things got you wouldnt find any of us going on to a scummer site lowering ourselves just because for a short time we have something to gloat about.
