BID COMES IN FOR VOKES

CHERRIES HAVE received a bid for striker Sam Vokes, the Echo understands.

Reports in south Cheshire this morning hinted that Crewe Alexandra were chasing the Welsh under-21 hitman's signature, but Cherries boss Kevin Bond this lunchtime played down that speculation, saying the Dean Court club had not received any offers for Vokes "at this moment in time".

But an Echo source this afternoon claimed that one club had already made a bid for the frontman, believed to be in the region of £175,000.

It was understood earlier today that the bid had come from either Crewe or Bristol City, but City boss Gary Johnson, when contacted by the Echo this afternoon, confirmed the Robins had NOT made an offer for Vokes.

But with Doncaster Rovers also believed to be monitoring the youngster's situation, it now appears increasingly likely that Vokes will depart Dean Court before tomorrow night's transfer deadline.

Don't even think of it Mostyn!

This sends out the message that we really have thrown in the towel. Let him go and say goodbye to the season and, at a rough guess, 2000 per week on the gates.
I just despair!

it doesn't send out anything yet as there is no confirmed acceptance of any bid.
But if this money is used by a certain person to re-buy the club from administration, then it just shows how much the fans have been "ducked up the farce" (Rhyming Slang!)

i think you might find that when our creditors find out we might have some money there will be a long queue at the front door. lower league teams always lose there best players thats why we never progress. lets hope he stays.

How far do you think £175k is going to go among our creditors?

Mild mannered AFCB fans will take it lying down as always though. Any other club's fans would be rioting by now.

Maybe the reason we called in notice of administration for so long was so that we could wait until the transfer window closes before going into administration and we won't have to surrender players like Vokes.
Gradel and now Vokes, maybe this is Crewe's way of disturbing morale in the AFCB camp?

Oh how so very sad if once again we sell our best family silver! As many have said already 175k (if true) will be a drop in the ocean so why lose out on making more money when we are in a more stable situation!!!

Obviously with our current financial situation we have to take bids from other clubs but does anyone know what happens if Sam himself doesn't want to go bearing in mind he is a local boy??

This seems to me a ridiculous piece of business. Surely if we sell Sam the money will go straight to our creditors at "full value". If we hold on to Sam until after 1st Feb nobody can buy him as we are not in the transfer window so we keep our asset. If we then go into Admin we will be a more attractive (!) proposition with Sam than without him for investors.

Frankly this is just about the last straw for me anyway. Sam is our one gem. This makes me feel far more angry than the abilities (or otherwise) of KB. Truly p***ed off!!!!

This will be the nail in the coffin for us this season if he does go, and just when things were looking a little brighter, the club must be really in the sh1t, what next then I wonder?

So if he is that much of a problem, why wasn't he paid off with the £500k that the club received from Parkcrest for the land behind the East Stand?

Crewe have the habit of selling a player every couple of years for a few Mill which keeps em afloat. Clearly they see Sam as their next nest egg. WHY THE BL**DY HELL DOESN'T AFCB DO BUSINESS LIKE THAT RATHER THAN JUST GIVE OUR PLAYERS AWAY??!!!! I will be severely pi**ed to whatch this sale go through if it does then see Sam move for big money in a year or so time. And guess what we won't have a sell on clause of course!

Who said Crewe were trying to unsettle our club? We don't want him to be sold especially as he is worth more than 175k, so what are you having a go at us for? If you do get him then you will be getting a very talented youngster, I for one hopes he tells your lot to f@@k off!!!

If AFCB are headed for administration who benefits from any transfer fee ?

its the last thing we needed, but it'd show real intent if Mostyn could persuade Vokes to stay- if not then we're in real trouble. I would say that if the defence could tighten up then goals from Vokes could be key to Bournemouth's survival. Bradbury's past it, Pitman never had it, Kuffour has had a bad season by his standards. If Crewe do get him tomorrow I wish him all the best there and they'll no doubt nurture him into a quality player- it'd be a great acquisition for them. He may end up playing League 2 football anyway though- Crewe are having apoor season as well and are far from safe in League 1

Nick71, Poole says...

One of the few players that we have capable of scoring goals. Have we really signed a has-been like Tessem only to sell our best prospect? Bond and therefore Mostyn must go if this happens.
