TA marks 100 years
THE Territorial Army in Dorchester are planning a series of events to celebrate their 100th year.
Brigadier Tony Dalby-Walsh of the Wessex Reserve Forces and Cadets Association said: "This anniversary year - TA100 - is the perfect opportunity to celebrate the contribution and commitment of Dorchester's Territorial Army both in the past and in modern society today."
The TA celebrated their official anniversary on April 1 and the South West branch has various marches, parades and books planned for 2008.
The TA plays an integral part of the British Army and represents a quarter of its total manpower.
To celebrate the centenary all the members of the Territorial Army in Dorchester received a card from the Queen with a message of thanks.
