Bay flats fail to win design award

WEST Bay's controversial Quay West flats have failed to win a top design award.

The seafront homes development - condemned by some as a "monstrous carbuncle" - had been short-listed in a contest run by the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors to recognise excellence in their industry.

The RICS' awards - announced today - celebrate and recognise "exemplary projects" across four categories - building conservation, regeneration, sustainability and community benefit.

The Quay West flats were finalists in the regeneration category but lost out to Great Bow Wharf in Langport, Somerset.

The only award that should be given is to the first person to knock this eyesore DOWN !!!!!
