Nessie’s back in Poole Park Lake

Nessie in the lake Nessie in the lake

NESSIE’S back. After a brief spell on dry land, the friendly-looking monster has once again taken up residence in the model boat enclosure in Poole Park Lake.

The model cut out was originally positioned by a prankster or pranksters who pushed a note through the door of the Echo’s Poole office to alert reporters.

Despite proving a big hit with children, she was removed from her original position to make way for a meeting of Poole Model Yacht Club the weekend before last.

But as club commodore Peter Wiles admitted to the Echo, the move divided members, with some wanting her back and others glad they no longer had to negotiate the added “shipping hazard”.

“We moved it because where it was it was in danger of damaging a boat or being damaged,” said Mr Wiles. “We had a meeting and decided to put it back.”

He said the monster had been moved further up the lake where it was not in the way from the model yachts and its re-emergence from the depths had been noticed and appreciated.

“Nessie will stay until she disintegrates.”

The original prankster is remaining tight lipped about how Nessie got into the lake. “We still haven’t found out who has done it,” he said. “We have asked our members and as far as we know it’s not one of us.”

What a miserable load of posers some of the toy boat lot are,i wish their lease was taken away so the public could use the area, and kids could enjoy themselves, like i did there, when i was a toddler.

Yes I agree! I used to go there a lot when I was little. Surely a flat Nessie doesn't cause THAT much disruption? Or is it only grown ups that are allowed to play with toy boats? Oops, sorry, model boats.

Wow, what an earth shattering story. The Echo continues to push forward the frontiers of journalism.

Such a large lake, such a small monster, if the members of Poole Model Yacht club are unable to avoid such a small obstacle they shouldn't be operating any kind of boat, their just a bunch of miserable old T*****s.
