Marathon darts throw in aid of young Freddie Palmer
2:30pm Friday 19th October 2012 in Latest By Harry Hogger
MARATHON EVENT: Debbie Stratford, Alby Stratford, Tom Palmer, Shirley Palmer and Ozzy Osborne with George Palmer and Freddie Palmer
DARTS players will be stepping up to the oche for a marathon session to support a youngster battling cerebral palsy.
Dad George and granddad Tom will be among a team of 12 darts players throwing arrows for 12 hours solid at the Junction Hotel in Dorchester to raise funds for equipment for little Freddie Palmer from the town.
Brave youngster Freddie, who turns three in December, has required various pieces of equipment throughout his short life to help him cope with his condition.
It was originally planned that the darts marathon on Saturday November 3 would raise funds for an electric wheelchair, but funding for this may now be provided from elsewhere.
However, all proceeds from the day will be kept in a trust so that his family can get access to any equipment he needs in the future.
Dad George said: “The money we raise will all be used for his equipment, whatever that may be.
“What we are going to do is put the money into a trust and it will be kept for equipment that he needs as and when we are told by Freddie’s physio that he needs it.
“So the money that we raise will all go towards some of the things he needs and will be kept for that purpose.”
The darts players, including both grandads and Freddie’s cousin, will be throwing darts from 8am to 8pm. All support welcome.
