Phil Carey elected at the age of 91
A FORMER Bournemouth councillor has been elected a public governor for Dorset HealthCare NHS Trust – at the age of 91.
Phil Carey, pictured, who lives in Southbourne, is also a volunteer at Poole Lighthouse and involved in many other local organisations including the Salvation Army.
He is one of six public governors in Bournemouth and will hold his post for three years. He is also a former Bournemouth hospital governor.
Phil told the Daily Echo: “I enjoy meeting new people and look forward to once again being able to serve the local community. It is a great honour.”
Among those who congratulated Phil, one of two newly elected governors, were Jonathan Walsh, chair of the Board of Directors and Council of Governors.

By all means harness the invaluable wisdom only Mr Carey's age and experience can offer, but not in an important role like this.

@Florrie asks if there was anyone younger but did anyone younger apply?
He would be paid at whatever the job rate is, no more and no less.
For myself I would be happy to reach the age of 91 let alone do half the stuff he does.
More power to him and if Florrie wants someone younger to do the job, the answer is simple, apply for the job yourself.
