DO you recognise the man police are searching for after a distraction burglary in Christchurch?

At 4.45pm yesterday two men went to an address in Normandy Drive and said they were court bailiffs.

The victim, a 31-year-old man, believed that they had the power to enter the house and remove items. The men took a games console and some cash and left in a small white van.

Police Constable Bill Nightingale, of Christchurch Police, said: “Although the offenders did not show identification or have any paperwork they were very convincing to the victim.

“Enquiries have revealed that the men were not court bailiffs or acting on behalf of debt collecting agencies. I am now in a position to release an e-fit of one of the offenders. If anyone recognises this man please contact Dorset Police urgently.

“I strongly advise the public to always ask to see official identification from strangers that come to the door. If there are any concerns please check with family, friends and neighbours or call the police.

“I am appealing for anyone who may have witnessed this incident, seen something suspicious or has any information that can identify those responsible, to call Dorset Police in the strictest confidence.”

The first offender(pictured) is described as a white man, approximately five feet six inches tall, aged between 45 and 55, of heavy build with receding hair. He spoke with an accent that was possibly Scottish or Irish. He wore jeans and a white T shirt.

The second offender is described as a white man, aged between 45 and 55, of heavy build with dark brown short hair. He was wearing jeans and a black T shirt.

So it would appear it is not only older people who don't ask for ID and just go letting every Tom, Dick & Harry into their own homes ..... What a donut!

The bloke they visited must have been waiting for the bailiffs to call anyway. If anyone turned up at my house I'd want to see the court papers and ID as I know there has not been any cases against me!
