THOUSANDS of teenagers are preparing to spend a big chunk of their school holiday queuing in a bid to meet their idol Olly Murs.

His appearance at Waterstones in Castlepoint is set to attract the biggest crowd ever for a book signing there.

But it’s not for the faint-hearted.

The lucky few who get to rub shoulders with the cheeky Essex boy will richly deserve their place. Wristbands will be sold on Sunday, October 28 on a first come, first served basis, which will guarantee them a copy of the book and a place in another queue on Friday, November 2.

But turning up at the Sunday opening time of 10.30am doesn’t appear to be a great idea – hundreds are preparing to camp overnight to ensure a meeting with the Xtra Factor star.

The book store hit the headlines when popular children’s author Jacqueline Wilson completed an eight-hour stint when 3,000 fans turned up to a signing in 2004.

But store manager David Lund said the figure is set to pale into insignificance when 2009 X Factor runner-up Olly makes an appearance.

“Police coverage has been arranged and we have heard from people as far away as Cornwall who want to camp overnight,” he said.

“This is going to be much bigger than the Jacqueline Wilson event.”

Olly’s book, Happy Days, is set for release on October 11.

Olly’s book lifts the lid on his battle with alcohol, exhaustion and depression, as well as charting his rise to stardom.

'Olly’s book lifts the lid on his battle with alcohol, exhaustion and depression, as well as charting his rise to stardom'
- as his bank account swells with the weight of teenage cash. Look out for the book in the charity shops in about 18 months.

Af first glance I read that as a 'brace of Olly Murs fans'. Sounds more like it.

A so called star who is in fact yet another shining example of a waster trying to get rid of an overdraft

I doubt it "Dog friendly", at his age i was more likely out playing football with my mates then camping overnight outside a bookshop, just to see an also ran.

I saw Olly last week at Thorpe Park just ahead of me and a friend while we were queueing for some of the rides.Seemed like a nice guy but very quiet. He and his group didn't have to queue though. On Nemesis Inferno, after he and his group were allowed onto the front 2 rows - the staff didn't let anyone else board the same train. Some people in the queue started booing, and one person shouted out "your songs are rubbish anyway"!
