Bournemouth Male Voice Choir, which celebrates 90 years this year will be recreating a performance they did in 1922, on the steps of Bournemouth Town Hall next week.
They have also just issued their new CD, One Voice.
This new production was recorded in St Ambrose Church, Westbourne , the choir’s home venue for the last three years.
The choir appear at various competitions, but undertake most of their concerts in support of local charities and has been sponsored for the last four years by Bournemouth solicitors, Horsey Lightly Fynn.
Partner Simon Nightingale said: “I have always been impressed with their quality and professionalism.
“They have a tremendously loyal following and are supported at every venue they attend."
Recent concerts have been held in support of Wessex Autistic Society, Lewis Manning Hospice, LEAF, Pelhams Community Centre, the Samaritans and Hope FM Community Radio.
Mixing many traditional male voice favourites with variations of modern ‘pop’ classics and some new music by American composers, the new CD demonstrates the way that the choir is constantly seeking to extend its repertoire.
In recent years they have performed in almost every concert venue in Dorset and, as part of the Welsh Association of Male Choirs, have sung at the Royal Albert Hall, the Millennium Centre in Cardiff, the Dome in Atlanta, USA.
Mark Burstow, the choir’s musical director, is keen to welcome new members on 07501 456794. For more information see www.bournemouthmalechoir.co.uk
