What is the mission of Body Positive Dorset?
Supporting people living with or affected by HIV/AIDs.
Support for all people throughout Dorset who are living with or affected by HIV/AIDs. We provide Support with a number of issues and also offer counselling where necessary. Therapies are available two days each week. We also provide a daily drop-in facility. Much or work is currently around education, especially in schools, university and colleges.
Why does the community needs this charity?
There are several hundred in Dorset living with HIV/AIDs and we provide the support they need to live and work within the community. Our educational work in raising Awareness and discussing Prevention of HIV in schools, university and colleges is recognised as being of very real benefit to the community.
• Results and outcomes: Confidence building has been a major outcome. Many of our service users become very unsure of themselves following a diagnosis of HIV Self-confidence and self-esteem can virtually disappear.
We have succeeded, through a number of our self-awareness classes, in reversing these elements for many of our service users.
Examples of How Your Donations Can Help: £ 12 – one therapy, £ 20 – two hours of support, £ 25.00 – lunch for 10 service users If you’d like to donate, please go to: http://localgiving.com /charity/bodypositivedorset
