North Bournemouth residents urged to join new panel

NORTH Bournemouth residents who would like to improve community safety are being urged to join a new panel.

Bournemouth council and the police will be trialling a number of Community Resolution Panels from April 1 to help improve life for people in the area.

The panels are part of the council’s Safer Communities programme of works to enable local people, who have been involved in an issue of conflict or antisocial behaviour, to come together to help resolve the problem and agree a way forward. At each panel there will be two community volunteers to help out.

There will also be those involved including the wrongdoer and harmed parties with a representative from the police or council.

The meeting will be an opportunity for both sides to explain the issue before actions are agreed and an Acceptable Behaviour Agreement (ABA) is signed.

For more information call Reuben Dear on 01202 453934 or email reuben.dear@bournemouth .gov.uk.

If they want people from North Bournemouth to come forward then maybe they should clarify which areas fall under that heading. In all honesty, I couldn't tell you which part I'm techinically classed as living in.

Steve at bournemouth. I have been on enough committees,to know what works and what does not,i have done MORE positive work than ever you will ever do,so why dont YOU stop sniping and do some volunteering yourself,"ahh thought not" its much easier to have a go at someone you have never met and really know anything about,i do believe,my experience could be of some use to this panel, but am fully aware, that positions go to the chosen few.

North Bournemouth is generally known as West-Howe, East-Howe, Bear Cross and Kinson.

The idea of the comment section is to give an opinion which PW has without malice or sarcasm which you two havent. If anyone is being negative is the people that do not say anything.I too believe it wont work

I dont know if you are a wind up poster but never the less you have made a couple of good points.I dont think the police have given up i think its the powers that be have let things slip and we all know there is not enough police on the streets. Also digging out your pickaxe handle and community safety begins at home although its not to be condoned but more and more people would take the law into there own hands now than 10/20 years ago i believe

I know from experience that a the majority of the residents in these area are quick enough to complain that the Police ,Housing ect. do nothing about ASB but are not willing to attend meeting to discuss the problems. They are too reliant on letting the minority try and sort out the problem,PW would know this too well.

Then the minority, have to bear the brunt of retaliation. As a former chairman of council tenants and leaseholders, as was my wife,we had to listen to all sides,in doing so we incurred the wrath of some tenants, and took a lot of stick, some of which was very unpleasant, you take on a position and have to believe in what you are doing.
