A MAN broke down in tears in the dock as he was committed to crown court to face charges of sexual assault against a girl.

Bulbul Ahmed, aged 37, stands accused of sexual assault on a girl aged 13, two assault charges on a girl under 13 and indecent assault on a girl under 14.

Ahmed, of Maiden Street, Weymouth, appeared in Weymouth Magistrates Court for committal to Dorchester crown court on September 9.

He is yet to enter pleas to the charges and spoke through a translator.

The sexual assault is alleged to have taken place between January 24, 2008 and March 9, 2011 and the assaults are alleged to have taken place between May 1, 2004 and January 23, 2008, and January 23 2005 and January 24, 2007.

The indecent assault is alleged to have taken place between January 23, 2003 and April 30, 2004.

Ahmed was released on conditional bail to live in Maiden Street, not to enter a specified Weymouth street, not to contact the alleged victim or witnesses in the case and not to have any unsupervised contact with any child under 16.
