LYME’S top gardeners were honoured at an awards ceremony this week.
Winners of the Lyme Regis Britain in Bloom Garden Competition were presented with their awards at the Guildhall on Monday.
Competition organiser Wendy Alexander welcomed the many familiar faces in the competition, and also some new people this year.
She said: “Yet again you have come up trumps with your truly beautiful gardens and both the judges and I really loved looking at them.”
The entries were judged in July by Sydie Bones and new judge Paul Dunsford, a specialist in home produce, an additional category for this year.
Mrs Alexander said: “We had a flying start with 12 entries in the home produce category. Next year there will be two sections – one for container grown and the other for garden grown produce. Thanks to the generosity of Emma Young and Lindsey Blake from Rousdon there will be a cup for each section.”
Mrs Alexander thanked the judges, as well as Pat Stamp from Lyme Regis Town Council for her help in organising the competition and designing the certificates.
Town mayor Michaela Ellis presented Les Loveridge, of Woodmead Road, with the Cup for Overall Winner, and Pauline Hooley with the Cup for Runner-up.
The Nags Head won the Shield for Best Business, and Rosie Dean and daughter Daisy were presented with the Cup for Home Produce.
Pupils from St Michael’s Primary School were also awarded a special commendation certificate.
The entrants had a chance to look at photographs of the gardens entered and everyone went away with packets of seeds.
