TRIBUTES have been paid to tragic teenager Dominic Burt by his former Weymouth teachers.

The 18-year-old was killed in a road crash in Norfolk last week when his motorcycle was in collision with a tractor.

Dominic, who went to Holy Trinity Infant School in Cross Road until he was 10, was fondly recalled as ‘cheeky but nice’ by headmaster Mark Cheesley.

Mr Cheesley said: “The Burt family went through both infant and junior school at Holy Trinity before the years were amalgamated.

“Dominic was a very likeable lad and full of life. He was cheeky but nice – that’s how one of his teachers described him.

“He was from a lovely family and he moved to Norfolk when he was about 10.

“Dominic’s whole family was very loveable and likeable and Dominic himself was full of life.

“His teachers remember him as being quite sporty and being into all sports.

“Everyone at the school was very saddened to learn of his death.”

The headteacher of Wey Valley School and Sports College in Dorchester Road, Phil Thomas, said Dominic attended his school when he returned from Norfolk for a year before moving to Spain and was missed when he left.

Mr Thomas said: “Dominic went to school in Norwich after leaving Holy Trinity Infant School but later returned to Weymouth and spent a year at Wey Valley. He came down here between 2004 and left again in January 2006 to move to Spain. Dominic was in a very friendly tutor group and they were all very sorry to lose him, despite how little time he had spent with us.

“Dominic’s head of year Julian Richards remembered him as a pleasant, helpful young man and one who was missed when he moved to Spain.”

Dominic was killed when his red Yamaha motorcycle was in collision with a green John Deere tractor, towing a green trailer, on the B1136 near Haddiscoe at around 4.25pm last Tuesday.

Dozens of Dominic’s friends and acquaintances have left tributes to him and messages of condolence for his family on a memorial site set up on Facebook.

Laura Henwood wrote: “My thoughts are with your family and you are a close mate.

“You will be missed a lot around college.”

Luke Jinkerson added: “Rest in peace mate, this place won’t be the same without you.”

Kelly Dennis left a tribute thanking Dominic for ‘always putting a smile on my face’. She added: “You’ll be missed so greatly and always loved but never forgotten.”

A memorial service for friends and family of Dominic will be held at the Spa Hotel in Dorchester Road, Weymouth at 2.30pm on Friday.
