THE body found washed up on a groyne at Barton-on-Sea on Thursday has been formally identified as missing fisherman Osman Sharif.

A spokesperson for Hampshire Police said a report has been sent to the coroner and the next of kin have been informed.

There are not thought to be any suspicious circumstances to the man’s death.

The 28-year-old man from Wembley, London was reported missing by his family on Tuesday evening (1/12) after he failed to return home after setting out from Mudeford Quay earlier that day.

His disappearance sparked a massive search operation involving coastguard and lifeboats from Southbourne, Lymington, Yarmouth and Mudeford.
