It's summer Madness at Camp Bestival

PREPARE for a weekend of summer madness – literally – when Camp Bestival returns for the third time to Dorset next year.

The award-winning family-friendly fiesta will be back at Lulworth Castle over the first weekend in August with a line-up that includes the original nutty boys, Madness, and electro-poppers Human League.

Also scheduled to take part are The Fall, funk legend George Clinton with Parliament and Funkadelic and Calvin Harris.

Last year, headlining acts included PJ Harvey, Florence and the Machine, Will Young and Chic.

Camp Bestival organiser Rob da Bank, said: “It seems only yesterday that we were at Lulworth Castle, singing along to Mr Tumble and then watching PJ Harvey captivate the whole site with her extraordinary solo performance.

“But it’s that time again to unveil what we’ve been planning for 2010.

“From Saturday night headliners the nutty boys Madness to Bill Drummond’s inspirational new music project, from folk royalty Martin Carthy and Dave Swarbrick to DJ Yoda and Beardyman, it’s looking like a typically random yet happy family.”

Fresh from winning the coveted Family Festival Award at this year’s UK Festival Awards, Camp Bestival 2010 will run from Friday, July 30 to Sunday, August 1.

As well as a non-stop line-up of top music, more of which will be announced nearer the time, the festival also caters for the family market.

At this year’s Camp Bestival, television’s Mr Tumble proved to be a major hit with all ages and next year, he will be back for all three days, as will the English National Ballet.

Activities and shows will also include the East Lulworth Literary Institute, a comedy tent, art and craft workshops, dance lessons, 100 free things for kids to do, jousting knights, a freestyle sports park and madcap merriment from the Bestival Bluecoats.

River Cottage Café will be back again, just one of many refreshment outlets selling food and drink from all over the world.

Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall said: “We had such a fantastic time at this year’s Camp Bestival and are really excited to be involved again with the River Cottage Café in 2010.”
