TRIBUTES have been paid to the “bright and outgoing” young woman who died when her car burst into flames after a collision with a lorry on the A338 near Fordingbridge.

Christine Lorraine Hodges, 22, of Upper Parkstone in Poole, was driving to Salisbury, where she worked as an administrator for a car firm, when the collision happened at Hucklesbrook at 7.35am on Tuesday.

Her grieving parents Christopher and Trudi Hodges, who also have a son, Phillip, issued a statement saying: “We are devastated by the untimely loss of our daughter in this tragic accident.

“Christine was a bright, outward-going young woman, who was looking forward to holidaying and setting up home with her boyfriend Jeff.

“Christine touched many people’s lives and was active in the Brownie community.

“All who knew her will miss her.”

Poole Guides Commissioner Julie Cross was Christine’s friend and Guider at 3rd Oakdale Brownies.

She said: “She loved life, she was very committed to guiding. She loved coming to Brownies.”

Christine took an active part in going to camp and a visit to Paulton’s Park where she enjoyed the rides as much as her young charges.

“She was much loved by the Brownies and will be a very sad loss to us all,” said Jullie.

“On Tuesday at Brownies we’re going to say some prayers for her and do some drawings and the local vicar has arranged a short service for her.”

County commissioner Christine Thornton said: “She was a young Guider just beginning to work on her leadership scheme.”
